What's the best way to go about getting a PPI? Can I just ask the dealer if I can bring the car to a Porsche dealership to get inspected? Or do I have to find a local mechanic?

You can do it that way and of course a Porsche dealer is going to be happy to take that kind of easy money. You can also find a good indy mechanic that specializes in Porsche cars or take a BB member near you for a ride.

PS Porsche has been renowned for their brakes for a long time now, the 986 brakes were derived from a monoblock design they extrapolated from a race car, when working properly they are nothing short of amazing. So yeah if they feel like a Ford Escape with rear wheel drums something is amiss. The good news is fixing them is not a big deal.

Best advice:

Bring the car to powertech in rockaway, nj. Ask them to do a pre-purchase inspection.

It will cost you a few hundred bucks, but can save you a lot of headache. Have them focus on mechanicals (not cosmetics).

Good luck.
