Problems starting when cold

Hello, I'm new to all this and hope someone can offer me some advice. I'm a fairly new Boxster owner having purchased a 2000 registration 2.7 Boxster with 49000 miles on the clock 3 months ago. It has an immaculate service history and has been perfect ever since I got it. When it came to the yearly service and MOT time I took it in to my usual mechanic who I have used for many years who has worked on my 'normal cars' but isn't a porsche specialist. He said everything was fine, passed MOT no problem and changed the Air Filter, Oil Filter and Oil.
The next day it really struggled to start, turning over and over but not firing up which it did after around 10 seconds. It has done this everyday from a standing cold start and I find it starts up quicker when it starts to sound as though it is struggling by pressing on the gas pedal (something I've never had to do before). Once started it is fine and drives fine with no issues at all. I can then park up and get back in the car within a few hours and it starts up straight away no problems at all, it ONLY ever does it when its a frosty morning or hasn't been driven for at least 12 hours.
I've taken it back to the mechanic after a week who has now replaced the fuel filter believing that was the issue, but the problem still remains. He hasn't got the diagnostic equipment so now I feel he is guessing a bit at what is wrong with it. I've researched the forum and tried to find the solution but getting nothing solid. The AOS sounded as if it might be the case as I do get a large puff of white smoke when it does eventually fire up but I did the test of removing the oil cap when the engine is running and that comes off without any resistance.
What is baffling me most is that the car was perfect before I took it in for the service and now it's not. What on earth could have gone wrong in that time that I now have to pay him for the service and then probably take it to a Porsche specialist to fix!
I've taken a video of the start up which I'll upload shortly.
Thanks
