Half Moon Bay
Took a drive down Highway 1 from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay this past weekend. Even with the fog, the top was down better part of drive there and back. Can't decide which is more fun to drive with top down, my convertible C5 or the boxster.

What do ya call that color?
I have not seen one in that particular shade of yellow. Interesting. Our cars do not look bad in any color.

That drive is fantastic. Many years ago, my buddies and I used to drive that route a lot on our surf patrols from San Fran.

Agreed, I'm originally from Monterey and have been that way a few times. When I had a Jeep I used to drive the Old Coach Road for giggles. Great drive though. That makes me think I should be doing the same trip soon with the Boxster. Last sports car drive I had there was with a '82 Corvette while I was in college.

Skrap, we used to spend hours driving down the 1, lots of fun twists and drops, then catch the the 101 and go north for a qucik trip home. You're going the wrong direction

There used to be a pretty good Italian restaurant named Mezzaluna in Half Moon Bay, although I have not visited it in several years.................

About 2 years ago my wife and I flew to San Fran. Rented a car- a small Chevy. Very cool drive to Half Moon Bay via a twisty road. Stopped at a cafe where there were some cool cars and motorbikes. Would have been a great drive with a Boxster.... Stayed at Belmont. Good restaurants.

I have done this drive many times but it is never enough. 1st time was in a rental box ( tried to upgrade to something sportier but I was only going 1 way) Did the drive with a Ford dually & car trailer. In 1994 bought a new Mustang GT conv& drove it to SanFran & back on Hwy1, bought my Boxster in 2003 in Portland drove down the coast to SoCA in 4 days, best trip ever. Or maybe the time I did it in a GT2?
Anyway to answer your question, C5 conv can be more thrilling but a Boxster is funner!

Picked up a set of new wheels this past week. Definitely like the change from the 16's but the only odd thing is that the rears are around 2" higher overall. I think it fills out the wheel well better and gives the car a slight rake. Not sure how handling is affected but it seems to drive ok so far but haven't had chance to take it on a long drive given the rains.

What size are the tires? This will affect the speedo and the gear ratio.

Nice... Hwy 1 is definitely a fun trip. Have you done skyline blvd yet? I haven't but have heard it is good.

Look like they're 987 wheels. The 987/997 had higher sidewalls on the rear tires, which might explain the higher overall profile.
