Did some work on the 03 yesterday. Tackled one of the vent flaps.

After:

Followed these steps for this one. What they dont mention in this link is there is still another one inside the car. If yours is as bad as this one you can see it through the hole for the heater core.

Since I had the 03 in the garage and had some time I got around to getting the speakers replaced in the 987 speaker shelf I have had sitting on the table. Put a set of 5 1/2" component speakers in. 1" tweeters replaced the 2.5" speakers and 5 1/4" subs replaced the bose 2 ohm ones. mounted the cross over and replaced the wiring. Just went with a low end set for now to see how it sounds. It's connected as the rear channel on the MBquart NA2-500.5 amp which has the dash connected as the fronts & the same 5 1/4" subs in the door connected to the dedicated sub channel.

Haven't even touched the gain and it is way better then having the 986 shelf with the 3.5" speakers. While the subs are downfacing, it is a sealed system so it does pretty decent, enough to fell the air coming out the front. Still need to get out with the top down to see how it sounds but so far it's a great upgrade.

He doesn't even mention the other one that can only be done by removing the radio & cutting the duct...or taking the entire dash & hvac out. This one would only fix heat not cooling.

Lots of driving last couple days. Such a fun car!

With the heat up here in the Pacific Northwest, I'm thinking of getting the AC recharged. It's been on my list as part of the refurbishment work, but I think it's moved up the priority list.

He will be eating well for awhile

The engine mount made a huge difference in shifting, that was probably long overdue. I’ve had this Boxster for 9 years now and other than tires, brakes and oil, it hasn’t caused me any problems so I decided to splurge in my old age.

Speaking of tires, I’m due to replace those as well. I placed an order at my local Discount Tire for a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S’s but the rears are on back order for possibly 90 days! Ugh. It is not urgent but…
What’s the install price. I need to replace the tires as well. We don’t have discount tires in VA

Today I finished replacing the headlights with LED's, installed the roll hoop wind deflectors, installed an USB USB c charger in place of the cigarette lighter and once I realized I deleted the lighter, I installed the pigtail power cord for the Valentine Get 2 accessing the "dome" light. Thanks to Aaron for the top microswitch video about removing the panel. I have had no luck with photos, but I'll try again.

Today we found a barn. A barn find, if you will; and promptly beat the car up in it:

Last week I took apart my dash to double check the wiring and connections for my OBC install. It had been a while since I did the original install, and I broke the emergency flasher switch while removing it, because I didn't squeeze the two tabs on the sides while pulling on it. I found a used one on eBay for $18.55 delivered including sales tax, better than the $70 cost for a new one and ordered it. Today I went for a ride in my Boxster with no emergency flasher switch. Fun fact I learned, the turn signals don't work if there is no flasher switch installed on a 2003! At first I panicked, thought I was going to have to pull everything apart again, and then realized there was no flasher switch installed, and the wipers, OBC and cruise control all worked, and I thought that could be the reason for no turn signals. Got back home and UPS had delivered my new (used) switch. Popped it in and voila, the turn signals work again!

It's always fun learning these caveats! I wonder if it's because of the canbus on the 03-04

Turn signals also don't work on a 2001 S without the emergency flasher switch. I also panicked when doing mine when the turns didn't work without the flasher switch installed.
