Got around to putting the manifolds back on with new gaskets and hardware all around. It all went back together easily enough so the next time any part of the exhaust has to come off should be a simpler affair with a lot less colourful language.
I thought it would be rude not to fire it up with the u bends disconnected just to see what a straight piped flat 6 sounds like. It's a nasty, snarling, popping and very very loud. This was few blips to only 3k as I'd need ear muffs to go higher.
Also the blow is gone so wonder what I will hear next now that my focus on that issue is gone???

Finally drove it!!!! bought it with a bad engine last November, spent a while taking it apart, putting it back together, and then the Massachusetts registry of motor vehicles doesn't think my little Boxster is an essential vehicle (COVID delay!)...... today they relented!
Replacement engine is great, and I see suspension work in my near future, but top down, perfect day, couldn't be happier with the project.

Replaced both rear track/control arms trying to get rid of some suspension noise going slow over bumps. They needed replaced, one boot was torn, and they were way too easy to move by hand compared to the new ones.

It's always nice when, after a period of repair, it fires right up.
Congrats!!

Installed the Michelins today; Wow! what a difference from Bridgestons. The Michelines summer PS2s drive the car quieter, smoother, seems faster acceleration (placibo) and a big smile in my face knowing I can manuever around corners with confidence quicker

Finally finished the wiring for the factory-method footwell lights, variable intermittent wipers, and spoiler switch relocation. Tomorrow will be time to button things up.

90 degrees and humid in Pittsburgh today. Those snow-covered pines are a cooling sight.
Beautiful car!

Oh, that’s a painful amount of work right there! But yeah, might as well while you are there!

I was concerned this picture would appear upside down, but it is right side up on my computer. I don't know what it is with iPhone pictures and a PC laptop!

Started reinstalling the dashboard. Only have two screws I have no idea where they belong. Going go figure that out tomorrow.

I am so OCD!!! Put together a maintenance record spreadsheet, not bad for first 6 months of ownership lol. The engine is smooth as a swiss watch, exterior is near perfect, and after completing the remainder of a full suspension refresh this winter will be like a brand new car!

I totally do this as well! I'm sure there are other geeks out there that do it too. And you are right, that suspension refresh will change the car. Enjoy it!
