Did your primary physician or cardiologist order a doppler test of your arteries? my father suffered a stroke and was unlucky to be taken to a second rate hospital. After discharge and nearly a month later his cardiologist found a DVT clot in his leg and immediately began blood thinners. He'd been complaining of leg pain in his calf for many months but none of the doctors I took him to raised DVT as possibility. His previous primary physician was part of doctor's group that were somehow incentivized to block authorizations to escalate to a specialist which cost us dearly. In hindsight I should have simply changed his insurance ASAP and found a new doctor. But his routine heart tests were otherwise normal. A top notch cardiologist would not have hesitated to order the doppler test and get him on a low dose thinner.

I think as a general rule once you hit 65 you should check in with your cardiologist annually. Some things just dont show up on basic tests performed by a primary physician. Good luck. You're attitude is very similar to my father's. Some people like you have that extra gear that keep the fight in the dog. My one friend half my father's age has a mental breakdown if he gets a cold.

I am sorry to hear that your father also had a stroke. I am fortunate in that I work for one of top ten health centers in the US. No matter who you are in our hospitals, if you walk in with stroke symptoms, stroke protocol is activated. A special team kicks into gear.
