This weekend I installed my second set of wheels (purchased from forum member, achilles, who kindly included center caps) I had the Conti DWS tires mounted in the early summer, and with the weather turning cooler in New England - it was time. I do not store my car and don’t want to drive on the Conti Extreme Contact Sport summer tires when it gets chilly because that is dangerous.
I think these wheels are called Sport Classics, right? My primary wheels are the lighter weight Boxster II type. Pretty wheels these new ones, but will be a bear to clean. Fortunately, I don’t clean them as much in the winter. It is fun to change up the look of the car though!
Here are the new to me wheels:

Switched back to my factory shifter this morning. I liked the short throws but i was starting to think i was having clutch problems. Hard to get into hear, especially on down shifts when not moving. Seems like I had to keep greasing it to make it shift easy and not be so noisy. Just got back from a test drive with the factory shifter and no noise and smooth shifting. I guess that's why those cheap Ebay shifters are so cheap. Getting pretty good at it, for me, only took about an hour.

Fixed right rear stop light bulb slot in tailight assembly. The bulb kept popping out. The panel and slot housing the bulb were loose and securing them back onto the plastic and carefully squeezing the the slot that houses the bulb in order to hold in place was fairly easy. Now the stop light on both tail light assemblies work fine.

first oil change...
Did my first oil change this past weekend- have only put 2500 miles on the car since I bought it from Vincent and drove it home to SC from NYC- Car now only has 38,000 miles on it. Oil filter was clear of any metallic so next time I will do a blackstone report, but for now we will drive another 2500 miles then report back.
I do think I will need to do the struts and wonder what you guys think about options here , these 20 year old shocks are really soft compared the the bilestine I have on my 914 and would like similar performance as I do like to drive a bit and will have her out on the 2.1 mile Robeling Road Raceway for DE in December.
running pilot sport Michel. tires, original wheels-17"x7 front and 8 rear -
Thanks! otherwise car runs like new and AC is super ice cold! (car had a $3,000 service before being sold )

Which one are you going to? Roebling is my home track (with Florida Crown) and I go there 4-5 times a year. If you are going to the Coastal event December 2-3 I don't think I am going to be able to make that one though...

Yes I was going to try and go to that one- I live in Bluffton SC so right around the corner! about 20 miles away.
I was going to take the 914, but its going in for a repaint, - I just need new shocks on the boxster before Dec- it will be my first DE:dance:

Today I decided to go out and try one of those headlight restoration kits on my Boxster. Im really happy with the results and for $30 you cant beat it. Id love to get a set of clear headlights but new ones arent cheap.
So if my pictures work
Heres a before : [IMG] [/IMG]

So hopefully these worked, I was thinking about getting the yellow Lamin-X to protect them and kind of take away from the amber section. I like the look on some cars but don't know how it would look on this car, I think the Silver does help. What are your thoughts?

300-mile round trip in the afternoon to pick up a hardtop, on the way back home my car passed 80K miles! Running great, hardtop makes it feel like in a different car, so quiet that I hit triple-digit a few times! Shopping for a set of snow tires, then ready for winter!

Today was cleanup day. This month I dropped money on a set of Michelin Pilot Sports N4's to replace the Hankooks, did a wheel alignment (7 parameters out) and rear brakes for a very wet DE weekend a week ago. It got very dirty that weekend! Today was my first chance to clean it up, including a wash, glass cleaning, dash wipe down, wheel cleaning and treatment of the convertible top. Also added fuel stabilizer and a tank of premium ethanol free gas. In a day or two I will put my new cover on it and try to keep it clean by avoiding dubious weather for the fall. I hate washing cars under 50°F.

Pulled the radio last night and cleaned the [tune] knob with electronics cleaner. It had a pot/encoder acting up (going forward when turning backward), and so far so good.

I think I have the same problem on the volume knob. Very slow reaction to a turn of the knob, and even decreases volume level when turning up. I chalked it up to the not so great Becker CDR230. Will have to try your method.

I wholeheartedly approve of that. You've got a good eye for color combos.

I was cleaning up a Becker 1692 for my Mercedes (which had the same issue on the volume knob) when I decided to pull the 6612 from the Box and try my hand at it. I do intend to pull it out again to treat the encoder with Deoxit Gold to keep the internals protected.
