Garage
Last week end changed oil/filter/New Filter housing, washer her.
Monday took her for a 150 mile shake down drive.
My drip between tranny and engine did NOT rear it's ugly head this time
All in preparation for 1800-2000 mile road trip next week
Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway, Tail of Dragon, Cherohala Skyway and then back up same roads
Planning 6 days 5 night at various camp gounds. Boxster are great RVs

Well I picked up my car from the body shop today and went to my indie for HPDE tech inspection. When the pulled my car out of the garage the A/C wasn't working. Turned out the ignition switch I replaced last November failed. It was a Chinese one from NAPA that I used in a pinch. They had one and put it in right away. Best $84 I ever spent for parts, labor and sales tax! They recommend upgrading to the newer switch next time, they didn't have one of those in stock and it was already 5 PM when this was happening. So I will make it to HPDE at Mt. Tremblant.

Finally got the last remaining Bose parts out of my car. Thanks to Woody for selling me some spare door enclosures, so I could mount my new speakers without taking my doors apart until I was ready for the swap.

Bose removal included the door logos.

Speakers are Dayton Reference RS150P-4a. I've got a lot of tweaking to do, but it sounds better already.

Love the "Welcome" mat under the front of the car. Is this an invite to all to help you with your projects?

Yeah! Come on over and help me clean it!
We stopped using that at our front door over a year ago because of all the straw coming off of it, not sure why I haven't just binned it at this point.

Short shifter 😀

Installed the $59 eBay short shifter. Just took a test drive and it feels good. Makes the factory one feel as loose as my old Mustang. Now if I can just get it all put back together.

I believe you're supposed to flip the shaft. If you don't, it's going to be leaning very far left.

I didn't see your post until I put the console back in 😭 and there's noooo way I'm gonna worry about it right now. If it wasn't for taking out and putting back that damn console it would if been a breeze. I'll fix it in a few weeks when I get up the energy. For now Ill just name my car Ilene 😉
Doesn't really feel bad driving it. If you wouldn't of mentioned it I probably wouldn't of noticed it for awhile.

This morning I took it all apart again (Console was alot easier to take out this time). Not just to flip the shifter but to adjust, lube and TIGHTEN everything. Flipped the handle, drove it and flipped it back . I guess I got used to it leaning to the left a little. Tight is better also.

Love the upgrade

Flushed the coolant again, then put the new lower hose in, and reinstalled the undertrays.
Washed it, drove it.

Attended my first SCCA track event today. It was a good day but I need more experience. Looking forward to the next one.

Friday I installed new headlight corner trim. Better than seeing one with the plastic gone, but they stand out against the rest of the gray a bit.

Well I wanted to remove the dash mldgs and paint them like I paint the doors. After checking into removing them I realized that is almost impossible. So I went to a sign shop and bought a sheet of vinyl tape and put it on. Its not a prefect match for the guards red but Im going to find a better match soon and do it again. Today was kind of a test to see how it looked. I have the correct paint but i was hesitant to tape it off and spray it but I may.

It's not too bad. Just have to take a few bits off.
