Put new shoes on the Boxster, new center caps & lug nut covers, installed the Ipod cable, re-fitted the roll bar screens. More tomorrow!

Part 2 IMS Guardian installation
Last weekend I did the electrical portion of the install. Today I finished the mechanical part. Drained the oil, did the sump inspection (you could EAT off that sump!), ran the MCD wires into the engine bay and zip tied and secured the wires. Installed the MCD, connected it to the wires, refilled the oil and voila, IMS Guardian installed. Checked for leaks and took her out for a quick torque. Everything tight and secure. Feel a lot more confident about the engine now.
Oh yeah, had a beer and typed this.
Cheers

I touched up my plastidip. I put new rears on at the end of last season and the dip peeled a little from the edge of the rim. Surprisingly, not all that much. I completely removed it from one wheel rather easily and decided to just touch up the other. I hit them all with black and then did 4 coats of gloss. Looks sharp!

I had codes P0446, P1124 and P1126, blew out the purge line from the canister in the front wheel well, cleared code and took it for a 30 mile drive, all systems reset but the evap, guess I needed a longer drive, at least 1124 and 1126 didn't come back, when the evap system resets I will know for sure if just blowing out the system worked and I don't need to replace the valve.

Got a CA smog check. I was worried as I wasn't sure If my 2000 S fell into the "no more sniffer test" category or not. I have 2nd Cat Delete pipes, but throw no code.
Good news! no sniff! just checked OBDII port and passed! I love the way CA is doing this now...no way any smog check guy is going to pop the hood or look under our cars for visual stuff like that...

There are no 02 sensors in or after the secondary cats so you should not get a CEL or a code in your OBD II reader by eliminating them. I have read elsewhere here that the car will pass the sniff test without them as well but I live in MI, not CA, so I can't confirm that.

That depends on the model year of your car. My 2003 S has O2 sensors before and after the secondary cats.

2003 Base do not have the secondary O2 sensors, so I assume it's a S spec.

Interesting, wonder why they are only on the S model?
Anyone have some insight on why the S model has them and the Base doesn't?

I realized, after years of somewhat cramped driving (6' 1"), that my drivers seat was in the full up position. I swear that I lowered it when I first got the car...I guess I may have accidentally pulled the lever at some point.
I'm now amazed at how much room I have! I actually had to move the seat forward a few notches because the pedals felt too far away.
Doh!

Yesterday I drove for five hours to buy my Boxster. Then had not much fun in rush hours Seattle freeway traffic, and then another five hours back home. Could not be more pleased!

I went to a detail clinic put on by my local PCA. It was interesting. They used Griots products. The guy who ran it said that he hasn't used a hose to wash his car in years. I've always been afraid to try the spray on wash but I think I will try it. I can do it in my garage out of the sun. I also installed the LED side marker lights. I am happy with how they look. They are more clear than the ones they replaced.

According to the Bentley, all 2000 and up have the precatalytic converters with pre and post O2 sensors.
I'm not up to speed on emissions, but I believe the sensors are required on 1 cat on each side. I don't see any on the rear cats, so maybe if you have them on the rear cats, they won't be on the precats?
This is definitely strange...

My Boxster has 8 O2 Sensors, 4 per side. 1 before and after the manifold cat and 1 before and after the secondary cats.
I've read that people will put secondary cat delete pipes on the cars that don't have the O2 bung holes and they just tie the secondary O2 Sensors up out of the way and no CEL light from doing that. Not even sure what their function really is if you can tie them up and not throw a CEL.

6 Speed Trans Oil Change
I changed the MT fluid in my '03 S (74k km). A relatively simple job made difficult due to the triangular brace/skid plate below the transmission. The fill plug is easy access but a little awkward to fill from the fluid bottle. After impersonating a contortionist all is good. Luckily I'll likely never have to do it again
Shifting feels real smooth.
