Nice 100 mile top down drive. The weather is beautiful here in Florida. It was great until I got home and realized the wind block behind my head had blown out at some point on the way. Then, when I went back out to the car and started it to go to lunch, I had smoke pouring from the exhaust. I think it's probably the AOS. I've been having some uneven idle lately that made me think I might have a vacuum issue. Maybe issues are related.

Came across a few nice stablemates while participating in a show today. |
Swapped some vents around to match wheels. I think I might keep them that way.

did a back country driving tour with some Wounded Warriors. It was with the local PCA club and we had around 50 cars. 3+ hours driving some beautiful back roads in San Diego
Loads of fun! Came home and installed the rear speaker kit in the rear shelf Took about 2 hours, not a difficult DIY Bought the kit on amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LXDGCDM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Now I have rear speakers in addition to the dash speakers WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Some of the cars from the tour http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1413685405.jpg |
Wow, some nice events there!
With 72 degrees, partly cloudy, with a light breeze, I just did a lot of this... http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...psurdlcpk4.jpg |

Coin wash
Was too lazy to pull out the hose for a proper wash, but couldn't stand to look at my brake dust covered wheels so I decided to go to the coin wash. Used the "Tri-color " foam ( no brush) sprayed the entire car and wheels, and was shocked how clean the car came out, especially the wheels which usually require hand washing to get the black dust off. My concern is, if this foam is this strong, what does it do to the finish on the car

Drove it like I stole it.....
Our local PCA chapter hosts a HPDE event at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas.
TWS has been purchased by developers and is slated to shut down operations mid-next year as it becomes transformed into a housing and business district. Friday night I packed the Boxster and dropped the top for a great starlit 2 hr cruise to College Station. Had 8 great track sessions over the weekend. Packed the Boxster back up and drove home. Here is one of the more busy sessions of the weekend as I had to deal with more traffic than any of the other sessions. This video catches my only miss shift of the weekend as I come up on blending traffic and loose my focus. All and all an awesome weekend and a strong showing for a 15 year old car with a 103K miles on her. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10202922633123025&l=129825611929723609 5 |

I finally finished dropping the engine from my 'Part-ster' and pulled it around behind the garage.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1413949470.jpg Now its wrapped until I need more parts. I'll probably pick up a cheap cover tomorrow. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1413949530.jpg |
I took the long way home from visiting my granddaughters.

Not exactly today but over the last week:
Removed calipers and rubber brake lines. Painted calipers, and installed new EBC Red Stuff Pads all the way around. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1414440010.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1414440045.jpg The hardest part: Removing the rubber brake lines from the hard lines. I attempted this job once before with my cheapy Amazon flare wrenches and felt like something was going to break so I stopped. This time I was armed with some used Snap-on flare wrenches I got from eBay. I was able to remove the connection on the car side without too much trouble, other than grunting and swearing, but was able to remove none of the caliper side of the rubber line with them on the car. Once I removed from the car I was only able to remove one. I hit the rest with PBlaster, and then took to my mechanic and he let me clamp the bracket in his big vice, and I was able to get the remaining three. Putting it all back together was no fun, but hopefully I got them with no leaks. The first time I am sure that I didn't tighten them nearly enough as when I was bleeding the back right tire, part way through it started sucking air in through one of the connections. I went through and tightened them all again, remembering how tight they were, and cringing with every fraction of a turn, praying that something didn't give... Brake feel is superb now, little bit of squealing I think due to the break in period on the pads, with one issue. The pedal is rock hard, but if I stop at a long light and hold the pedal, it is very hard initially, but then very slowly starts to go down. If I release and reapply it is hard again, but then starts to go down. I had my son check and we did not see/hear anything at the fittings for the stainless lines, so I think I may still have a little air in the system? I would think that would cause a soft initial pedal, but I hope it is that. Got all of this done on Thursday afternoon, Friday I drove down to Daytona and on Saturday participated in an infield autocross and drove 3 touring laps of the road course at Daytona. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1414440512.jpg This is my favorite picture that my son took, and probably my favorite picture of the car so far. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1414440543.jpg |

Looking good JayG.

The wife and I went for one last cruise around the lake. Had a nice lunch next to the water. When I got home I changed the oil, washed the bugs off, added Stabil, filled her up with gas and put her to bed for the winter :(.

Replaced the broken spring in the Clutch Booster spring gizmo.
Much easier to push in the clutch now |
Put new rims on the Boxster today. These replaced the 17" turbo twists and Michelin AS3 tires I was running. New rims are SSR GT3s that came off a 911, 19x10 rears and 19x8.5 fronts. Included with the rims were a set of mounted Michelin Sports with about 60% life remaining (manufacture date of 2007). Paid $650 for the set, got them off craigslist here in the Portland area. They did not come with any center caps. I tried the new silver OEM Porsche caps I had in the turbo twists but the color difference was really obvious in contrast to the "Searchlight Grey" finish of the SSRs. I also considered the SSR caps for $45 a pop but I found grey Chinese knock-off Porsche caps for $17 a set on fleabay. Pretty pleased with how close the caps match the rim finish, theyre so cheap Ill get another set and keep them for future use. Also pictured is the 15mm spacers for the rear tires ($110 for the set) and the chrome lug bolts I got at Americas Tire, $60 for the set. I didnt need spacers on the front tires. New tire size is 235 35 19 fronts and 275 30 19 rears, included a shot of the rear tires to give you an idea of the increase in rear tire meat, gotta love it :) Next project will be caliper restoration, still struggling to figure out what color I want them to be...
