Drove down to Galveston and cruised the seawall!

Realized it was a better vehicle to transport an argon cylinder (I weld aluminum as a hobby) than my Mazda CX-5. The cylinder fit nicely in the front trunk, just right side to side, with a couple of bottles of windshield wash in front of it to keep it from rolling. In the Mazda it rolls and slides all over the place on braking, acceleration and turns. Perfectly still in the Boxster, and a lot more fun drive.
Lesson learned: A Boxster can be more practical than an CUV! |
Finally got the rest of the parts and finished my custom exhaust. (custom 2" race bullets into OEM 987 crosspipe, and then finally out an OEM 987 exhaust tip). I'm so happy that I went this route with the exhaust. No rasp whatsoever, surprisingly minimal "drone"(I'm guessing it's the shape of the tip on the outlet) and it still maintained that Boxster flat 6 exhaust note. Still have to center it a bit and tuck it up a little but I'll be get a sound clip up soon as well.

Drove 2200 miles
950 straight from South NJ to Daytona Beach Fla - 15 hours - Top down most of the way Forgot sun block Came back by way of Blue Ridge Parkway 450 miles Then Skyline Drive Its called the Smokey Mountains or a reason Driving in the Smoke(Fog) is it's own challenge I needed to use my GPS to know where the hair pin turns were I probably shouldn't have been snapping pics while driving when you can't see the road either At least Skyline drive was dry and I could put the top down - even thought it was in the high 40's http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400845582.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400845610.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400845638.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400845661.jpg |
I fished out my emergency frunk release cable (it was duct taped to the sheet metal- would have been almost impossible to retrieve in an emergency) and routed it to my tow hook access door. I will sleep better now...
Not to concerned about the trunk. It's getting to the battery that seems most important. http://www.einmaligparts.com/assets/...04/pg_0198.jpg |
Took mine in for a new top. Getting the glass rear window. Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow!

Cambria
Took a drive to Cambria for lunch, I can't believe the Jägermobile got the #1 parking spot in front of Linn's restaurant today (love their food).
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400977544.jpg Also a few Hot Rods running the streets and putting on a colorful show: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400977604.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1400977648.jpg |
Well, I've contemplated black plastidip with lapis blue. After seeing Dlirium's post, I made a trip to home depot for 4 cans. On the advice of a couple of locals, I didn't take my wheels off. I wish that I had, but I think that it's worked out.
I did 5 coats with 3 cans. I'm going to double check it one more time tomorrow, and then apply the glossifier. Earlier this week I replace my center wheel caps with cheapos off of ebay, and yesterday I replaced the worn out three button pad on my key fob. |

Wow, I'm glad that I checked in here first! I got the hang of light coats by the end, but definitely ended up with thicker spots with the black. I'll definitely go light coats with the glossifier.
|
as far as the base/black, if you get any runs/drips you can just gently pat it down with a towel with a bit of lacquer thinner on it and then keep spraying.

Had our annual Black Rock event!

Worked all night so I ended up just staying home today for memorial day, so I decided to paint my center console(body match color/gloss black).
Not half bad for rattle can work :/ . Really liked the results, so planning out which pieces next when I have free time. http://s29.postimg.org/p62c5arp3/WP_000159.jpg http://s15.postimg.org/q7579za6z/WP_000163.jpg http://s28.postimg.org/lyuxj9ta5/WP_000168.jpg |
that red stitching on the EB looks cool

Pulled this out from an a-hole that parked on top of my car at the airport with their SUV. I was unbelievable pissed. Guy/gal literally parked on top of and walked away without noticing. Fortunately I was able to get it out completely and polished out the mild scratches.

Cleaned and Used 303 fabric protectant on my top. Did not use a paintbrush or roller just sprayed it on and wiped up the overspray.
