Pulled the alternator on my 01 and had it tested. Dead. New one to arrive Tuesday.

I've had my eyes on that spoiler on ebay for quite some time. Damn it looks good!

Can you post some pics of that spoiler in the down position. Especially looking straight at it from behind. I'm interested in one, but want to see how much of a gap exists below the spoiler when it is retracted. Thanks

Gave my step son his first driving lesson on a stick shift. In the Boxster. I made easier on the car (but not my nerves) by letting him start on a downhill grade in a local industrial park. It took a few tries, but he got the hang of it.

Also - does working on my soft top at 2 am in the morning count for today? If so - that's two things for the day.

Took it out for only second time this year, first time with the top down. Took me 30 minutes to get to the grocery store only a mile from home. :D

This looks awesome, but doesn't it negate the down force created by the stock spoiler? I track my car and often hit 140+ mph. Thus far the car has stuck like glue and I've been leery of modifying the spoiler. What are the feelings on this?

I will say again, that it looks awesome and I want one. I just don't think it's a good move for a tracked car.

I've always been under the impression that the spoiler didn't create any appreciable downforce, but rather, counteracted lift. Considering the title "spoiler" I imagined it worked by "spoiling" the laminar flow of air above the car, slowing it down, and subsequently allowing the air underneath the car to exit faster than the air from above. Depending on how well the spoiler spoils the air above the car and how fast the air under the car exits, you would either get a vacuuming effect at high speeds, pulling the car to the ground, or less lift by reducing the speed of the air passing over the car versus that under the car. At low speeds, the spoiler may go down because the amount of lift reduced may not be high enough to warrant the possible loss of mpgs by the added drag from the turbulence caused by spoiler.

Of course, this is just what I came to the conclusion of- it may be completely wrong. But in any case, just by looking at the mounting points for the CF spoiler, I'm not sure if it could support the amount of wind force at 140mph. I've driven between 80-90mph with it up for 30 minutes continuously, but the amount of wind force you're talking about May require some reinforcement.... Again, I could be wrong.

I never get to benefit from the Porsche active spoiler. My boxster just never see speeds above what the public transport authorities here have max'ed for the roads (60mph + speed-cams infestation) so I've added a static spoiler (wing?!). Is that a good thing?

Was sure the footwall-spoiler switch was way down there just so I can enjoy my newly added PORSCHE sticker (when the car is parked).

I think my wing(s) makes my car look like "it goes super-fast"

Your spoiler looks great. I never had the spoiler fixed since previous owner had it lock wired retracted due to it not working. I regular go 80 mph but don't feel the car getting loose....Guy

Did it myself. I experimented with several different dyes and most are junk that just wipe off with water and don't penetrate the leather.

Tandy Eco-Flo midnight black is what finally worked. Great stuff and only $5 for a bottle that I'll probably never use all of. ;)

I popped the frunk with a charger connected to the fuse area. Charging the battery hoping it starts tomorrow so can drive it to buddies house. Where I'm getting new battery as this one is most likely dead and getting new Axle Boot kit installed.

I love when this thread is updated.

Installed a rebuilt alternator in my 01, less than $165.
