I think as a general rule once you hit 65 you should check in with your cardiologist annually. Some things just dont show up on basic tests performed by a primary physician. Good luck. You're attitude is very similar to my father's. Some people like you have that extra gear that keep the fight in the dog. My one friend half my father's age has a mental breakdown if he gets a cold. |

got to spend 200$ to get towed home after a radiator hose let go. got stoped before it overheated but was a mess. putting it on a lift in the morning to asses damage. guessing hoses are original so may do a complete refresh of the cooling system.

Not a 986 but on my 996, just did 4 brake hoses, 4 drop links and fuel door actuator. Brake fluid flushed as well.

I think I was hacked or sleep texted.

Looks like Kboggs is sleep-typing again. :D
Or is he warning us of a pending Biblical swarm of bees? |

I spent a good part of the morning taking out the high pressure power steering line that I ignominiously burned on my new headers. (PSA needed, BTW.) I'll try and do a quick write-up on the process since I haven't seen much out there. For the uninitiated, it's officially a royal pain in the ass but it's manageable, even for one whose DIY skills are as dodgy as mine.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1588459858.jpg After I got the hose out I replaced the plugs and ignition coils. The plugs that were in the car weren't fully perished but all but one of my coils were cracked. The new coils have a heavier insulator(?) and slightly different/longer bolts; must be an updated part. I ordered OEM Beru plugs and coils to keep things as good as original. Fun fact: the coils for cylinder #1 (front most right side) and #4 (front most left side) are a little tricky but not too bad. There's a little plastic tray on the right side of the engine bay that makes it damn near impossible to unclip the wire from the ignition coil on #1 so I strongly encourage folks to unbolt the two 10mm bolts that hold it in place. That gives you enough slack to disconnect and then reconnect the wiring clip to the #1 coil. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1588459886.jpg |
Almost forgot...
Since I'm in there anyway, I ordered a 997 plenum and some new plenum boots to go with the 74mm 996 throttle body I ordered. Once the IPD intake tube arrives and I get everything back together, I'll also have a bigger intake to go with the new exhaust. I simply can't justify the IPD plenum at (literally) 10x the cost of a 997 plenum. The 997 plenum is also 74mm to go with the beefy throttle body; it just doesn't have the sexy aluminum body and the machining inside. I'm sure IPD's stuff is crazy good and superior to a stock 997 plenum but I figure that 1) it's bigger volume than what my 3.2 came with, and 2) at 10% of the cost of an IPD plenum, the 997 unit will be "good enough." |

Just dropped the Tiptronic trans in my 01 S. The Bentley manual misses a few things so just be wary when doing this yourself. The Tip is a much bigger job compared to dropping a manual.

Replaced the transmission oil and made another DIY video. I think it was due after 22 years and 68,000 miles.

Solved the windows not dropping/doors not locking/central locking issues... took apart both door actuators, cleaned/greased, refurbished, checked voltages, fixed some micro switches.
