@dghii - Yes, yes I did!

Picked her up from the Annual service plus spark plugs. I don't know what else my mechanic did but the car is running way better than it ever has.

It is raining still so not much driving took her back home and did a spot cleaning. lol:dance:

I got a very nice 3 spoke steering wheel last night. Going to replace my thrashed wheel today! Oh! to have a wheel that isn't shedding its coating and doesn't have curled plastic around the tiptronic switches.

I cleaned the MAF sensor, topped off the power steering fluid and did a general checkup of the top side of my engine. Replacement engine is running so nice!

I booked a small service for the upcoming season and decided when to get my new tires delivered.
The car is far away (400 miles) and spring looks even further away, as it's -7°C here at the moment...
I'm also getting my new muffler modified (again) this weekend.

AM having Bridgestone RE-71Rs mounted on one set of rims today. The Sumitomo HTR's from thtose rims are going to a set that previously had snow tires mounted. Getting ready for the AX season, and maybe a DE or two.

I took mine to Harbor Freight and Safeway today. With the top down. It was +75F here today. Kinda too hot.

Went on a Picnic Run with our car club to Cataract Dam (south of Sydney). Out of 9 cars 3 were Porsches, 2006 Cayman S, 1960 356 Coupe and my 2003 Boxster S. Great Day.

Enjoying the Cayman, but the Boxster is much more fun to drive.

Just sayin'...................

Installed my oil pressure gauge... Works just dandy!

Damn the snow and cold temps, ordered a new set of tires. Hope to get them mounted before the end of the month, need to check out my brakes and rotors too and then I should be ready for a full season of happy Boxster driving.

Boy, I miss Sydney. Especially when its cold and miserable, like right now, in the Northeast US! If I could, I would move back.

The new owner stopped by today and bought the factory hardtop from me. Sweet!

I always liked that color red on the boxster!

I gave my boxster a pat on the kester! I also started cutting that extra set of door speaker boxes to mount the 6.5” not going fast, need a better way to cut the plastic.

On an up note weather appears to be drying up so might get some actual wheel time in.

I've been trying to get busy before it gets too hot to work in the garage during the day, so I took care of some small things that needed doing:
  1. Fixed radio speaker grounding issue -- since I'm using the factory amp, I just left the speaker wires loose, and one got smushed up against the back of the radio. Doh! I heat-shrank them and reinstalled.
  2. While I was in there, I also swapped the two wires for ignition and constant power -- my radio was reset every time the car was shut off, just a minor annoyance, but fixed now.
  3. Wired in the reverse wire under the driver's seat to my radio in preparation for a backup camera. That was the first time I removed the seat, so now I know how to do that. Getting the connector off was tricky if you've never done it before (there's a part that slide over to lock and unlock it).
  4. Reset airbag code with Durametric (again). I may need a new seatbelt receptacle, it wasn't due to #3....
  5. Fixed the passenger side mirror (plug was just loose)
  6. Discovered that my newly-replaced vinyl window leaks in at least two places
  7. Drove her all over town (before the rain)

I put a little digital volt gauge in the dash--where the left cigar lighter would be. My old Dodge Dakota has better instrumentation than my Boxster.

Brian in Tucson 03-20-2018 09:55 AM

I drove my Dakota to Phoenix yesterday to visit 20th Street Autos, a good used parts source on 40th street. I bought a nice 03 top, a carpet set, factory floor mats, and a used console with a working lock and undamaged hinge. All for my 01 base. turning into a pretty nice car after the previous owner ran it into the ground.

Keep your head down. There's maniac on the loose in Austin.:chicken:

++++ as a local who has purchased parts from 20th Street. They specialize in Porsche used parts.

Drove 150 mile round trip to dermatoligist :(. But at least finally got a decent drive in.
Also continue work on door speaker box modification. Working on cutting the lip off recess 6.5” adaptor.
