Thanks Eslai for the info. I just took mine over to Pioneer for the fix-application and it seems to have done the trick quite nicely.

Just to provide more detail, they attach 1.5 inches of the black felt-tape (that can be purchased at any crafts store or maybe automotive) into the female attachment point of the removable plexus.

In completely unrelated info, I was reading the 987 write-up in the August Panorama which imparts that there is a 12v receptacle in the PASSENGER side footwell. Indeed there is, which makes a handier power source if you're running a radar-detector that isn't hard-wired. Previously I was running the V1 out of the 12v in the armrest and don't remember mention of the footwell one in the owner's manual.
