How much would you pay...

For a 2007 Base with 7k miles? I did research on cars dot com and autotrader dot com and the best I could compare it to was one with 10k miles for $32k from a private seller. The car listed for $56k with options (it doesn't have a lot, just the ones I like). It's a manual and I know I can get it for $29k and possibly $28k. I drove it tonight and it feels brand new. I was thinking I could drive it a bunch for a year and sell it for close to the same price. I would find it hard to part with my 2000 'S' because I love working on it so much and I know if I sold it I would never get my money out because I have replaced almost everything on the car. The 2000 'S' actually has a little more punch to it but the 2007 drives like a dream and is more comfortable. Heck I could just have both in the garage...or get those sport plus seats in my 2000 'S'. I have the Walmart syndrome, have to purchase because the price is great. One can never own too many Porsches!

2007 with 7k miles? $28,000? What are you waiting for?

Get a PPI and make sure there is no negative history on it.

How prone are the 2007's to IMS issues? It's a lot more work to change the IMS on some 05's - 08.

Blue Book on a 2007 base with 10K miles is $30,300-$30,900. If the owner tries to trade it in to a dealer he won't get over $25K. In this market and economy, I'd offer $26,500 and not pay over $28K.

Dealer gave $28k for it and I'm not under the impression they overloaded. They'll likely list for $34.9k or more.

I can get it out the door for $30. That includes:

Admin Fee
Tags
Sales Tax
PPI
Alignment

Basically that works out to a $28.5k sale. The $30k is $1k more than I wanted to spend.

thstone - I'm thinking you are right and they may have overloaded because of the low mileage. It felt very close to a great buy.

You think it's a good ( great? ) buy, but $1000 is a deal breaker ??? Everyone likes to brag about what I hard deal they can drive, but 1K is nothing over 5+ years of ownership if it buys you a truly excellent car.

I here ya. I'm actually not trying to drive a hard deal. The deal is actually what it is, I guess I'm just being indecisive. I talked to the sales manager at who is a good friend at another Porsche dealership and he felt it was a decent buy. He said if I plan of parting with it in the next year to plan on taking a 4 to $5k hit because he thought there would be a lot of other Boxsters coming on the market with the appeal of the 981.

I appreciate the feedback!

I can understand that, plus you already have a Boxster, so there's no "urgent" need to buy.

$500 isn't worth worrying over. If you like the car, buy it.
