2000 boxster missing in rain

Can anyone please shed some light on the following

when it rains, hard my 2.7 develops a bad miss, enough to bring the engine light on, if you get the revs above 4k it clears.

ive changed all 6 coil packs, but the issue is still there.

someone has mentioned an issue with the air intake and the water fouling the maf? mine has been de snorkeled what ever that means

can anyone please direct me in how to solve this without paying main stealer prices

many thanks
martin

Garage
Do you notice this happening more often when coming out of a turn?

I am not a fan of the desnorkel mod. I think it's mostly noise and it create the potential for more FOD to contact the air filter...

cant say its any more from a turn, mostly on straights in heavy water.

i stripped the air intake last night, and didnt find any water in there really. although the maf sensor has one screw missing, not sure if that would be the issue as its only in wet conditions
