Headlight Problems

My passenger headlight is acting strange...DRL works fine...high beam OK but low beam won't come on just stays on DRL when I turn the switch to the second position. I've always assumed the DRL and low beam work off the same bulb but how can one work and not the other? I don't have litronic just the regular lights. I've been thinking of replacing with Sylvania Silverstar but my owners manual shows a separate bulb for low and high beam so does that mean I need four in total to do both sides? That could get pricey!

Mine works the same way - my low beams are my DRL's. By any chance do you have US car that was imported to Canada and had a DRL mod done at the dealership as part of the importation process?

3 bulbs each side - hi, lo, fog. All H7's. Not expensive unless you want it to be.

Yes mine was originally a California car...the PCM1 keeps trying to send me to the Long Beach Yacht Club! Maybe someone famous owned it originally who knows? My owners manual pg.216 shows three separate bulbs...low beam, high beam, parking light at the rear of the lens and two more bulbs at the front part for fog light and turn signal light on pg. 218 so 5 bulbs in total...will get to the bottom of this Thurs. morning when my mechanic takes a look at it.
