I've owned my Boxster for a year now and befoer I renew my plate I was going to purchase a vanity plate for it. I'm in Virginia where nearly everyone has one. Do you guys have any ideas?

Johnny Danger 06-13-2012 05:39 AM

How about "NO IMS" ?

Mine is EYW 986 (airport code for Key West and Porsche number) So how about RIC 986?

Crono0001 06-13-2012 01:56 PM

You should get LED replacements for your license plates too. I see them around and they're beautiful.

... speaking of which, does anyone know what kind of bulb our license plate takes?
apologies for the thread jack

particlewave 06-13-2012 02:00 PM

The ultimate plate is of course "Danger" . However, one has to be a man of global intrigue and international fame, as well as being able to locate the "G" spot on large Hungarian women, before The Strategic World Command will give authorization to any DMV to release it .

I am going for my last name then first initial. we will see if the republic of kalifornia will accept it though. SEXTONT

LAP1DOUG 06-13-2012 04:31 PM

I was thinking about getting "KIPPIS", which is Finnish for "cheers", but I imagine there could be some problems with the authorities on that one.

Jager 06-13-2012 04:34 PM

I ended up with this... Wish I had more room for the "E".

I have one of the CA "arts" plates just for the beach scene, the number CA issued on it is:

SAT469

Mark_T 06-13-2012 06:06 PM

Wasn't planning on getting one for the Boxster. I tend to think a Porsche is enough of a statement without adding a vanity plate as well, but I lean towards the low-key, understated look probably more than most.

I did have this plate on my van. The customers thought it was hilarious. I got a lot of comments on it.

Careful. The women at Smith College have more testosterone and hair on their bodies than most men !!

peterbrown77 06-18-2012 10:29 AM

Incredibly, I've never received a negative comment. Had a couple of guys on Harleys laughing about it a light a few weeks ago, and everything else has been positive. There was one guy in an Element who may have given me the finger last week, but if I were "driving" an Element, I'd be frustrated too - so I didn't read too much into it.

I've been driving P-Cars for quite a few years here in the Midwest, Ohio to be exact. Where I live for some reason Porsches are pretty rare, but exotics (Ferraris, Bentleys, Hi-End Mercs, Maseratis, etc) are around. For the most part comments have been positive, but there have been not so friendly gestures said. Strangely enough, over the past few years they have all been made from Ford products. Not being cute or funny, just being honest. The whistled*cks throwing revs have always been in Mustangs, usually from "new edge" body style from the late 90's. The truly angry boys have been in F series pick-up trucks.... pretty weird and sad at the same time.:(

Yeah, I call those little boys "Mustang Sallies" and just give them a laugh and a wave. The rednecks in pickups aren't even worthy of a glace. :)

It was more an observation of peoples' reaction to my plate....

You might be lucky the Harley guys didn't pull you out of your car and beat you. The term "1 percenter" is usually used in reference to outlaw bikers and they can be quite protective of the title. In this case, they were just laughing at you for thinking that you belong to that group.

I absolutely would not have that plate on my car. not around these parts anyway.
