Oil change, filter type, parts question...

Now that I have my Boxster 101 book and plan to spend a few $$$ to save $$$$$, I need to know if you buy the deluxe Pelican parts oil filter(the name escapes me) fitting or if u stick with the standard one. Also do you have to go with the recommended oil filter remover? Of course that depends on the kind of filter u have. The next question is who is your supplier of oil change parts? I live in Canada and there is a shipping/duty(?) charge likely for coming from the US.
I need to know if you go to your local Porsche dealer for parts(would they even sell oil filter removers?) or do you go to Pelican Parts for everything. Would appreciate your suggestions?

If you order from a foreign vendor make sure it is shipped USPS. The charge you see on ebay is all you will pay. No taxes, duties etc.

Do not ship UPS, Canpar or Fed ex. Duties and fees are crazy

You can get a 76 mm filter wrench (size B) at Autozone, etc for about $5. Fits a 3/8" rachet.

For the Canadians you can get it (76mm - 14 Flutes) from Carquest for around $10.00. Some of the Mazda's and Ford's use the same size wrench. To avoid the hassles of duties and customs brokerage charges, I've bought parts from autopartsway.ca, pcarspecialist.ca and the dealer. Some times the dealer has surprised me and had the best price on a part. so I call them first for a quote before ordering online.

For the oil I just use Mobil 0w40. I'm not saying it's the best - don't want to get sucked into the oil wars. It's a good idea to order an extra drain plug. It's easy to strip the hex socket if the wrench is not fully seated. I keep an extra one hand just in case. I also cut apart my oil filter and run a high power magnet over it looking for bits of steel. Hopefully this will give me a heads up in case my IMS bearing is grinding away
