Speed yellow is pretty awesome:
http://vitaminc.smugmug.com/Cars/Par...IMGP4057-L.jpg Though the Lapis Blue on my car is pretty sweet too: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-z...0/IMGP3548.jpg You might also ask yourself, is silver a color? One thing is certain, it's boring! :p http://www.uwgb.edu/heuerc/2D/ColorWheel1.jpg |
I'm going to conclude the following:
Three best colours in no partic order - Silver with Box Red leather. Not exactly exciting, but definitive and will be "classic" in years to come. Speed yellow. Guards red. I think the 986 looks great in most colours. Only one I can't really tolerate is dark blue. |

A recent survey showed that 9 out of 10 women preferred Speed Yellow over any other color !!

Biarritz White & Tan
Never was sold on a white car until a 2001 Biarritz White Boxster with a tan top and tan interior caught my eye on a car lot for sale. Wow what a color combination, I need that car I thought. Its been six months now and still stare every chance I get, ya you all know what I'm talking about.

I think the entire range of colours is interesting (although I am not a big fan of 'plumb crazy'). Speed yellow and red scream for attention a little too much for my taste (and ok, my age), but do look great. Silver hides dirt and is, of course, the original german racing colour; sadly, the common red interior tends to fade heavily and the carpeting has a tendancy to turn pink.
Like Gikser, mine is a nice, conservative, Ocean Blue metallic with metropol blue top and beige interior. The Ocean Blue metallic has terrific depth - it appears virtually black in low light, but in direct sunlight shows tremendous amounts of metallic and some subtle undertones. And the beige interior adds some nice contrast to the black plastic bits and stays much cooler in the sun. Anyway, it works for me. One advantage to the darker colours is that one can eliminate 'road rash' much more effectively with Dr. Color Chip (as I recall, that's the name of this terrifc product) than on lighter colours. The best color? Really, no such thing. Most of us bought our cars used and, if you were like me, the color combination was secondary to the condition (and correlative maintenance records). I guess the real test is, what color would you order in a new Boxster? I would definitely stick with a beige interior, but would probably opt for either a black or white exterior. Brad |
Triple Black
If I was ordering from the factory (which I really want to do one day. They have a great program for it), Triple Black all the way.
Love the history/tradition of Speed Yellow. My parents had a '74 911 with black interior.....GEORGOUS. The only car I would ever consider getting in yellow is a Porsche. But I don't think it is really me. My second choice, happily, is the one I am getting in a couple weeks. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1339074302.jpg Seal Gray! |
I love mine in black, but I also really like dark grey. I think even the ugliest color imaginable would look good on a porsche.

Today I passed a Candy Apple Red boxter ? Was I seeing things ???? Anyone have one ? And no, I have not had my Martini YET.

Mine's Rainforest Green Metallic

Welcome to the forums! |
Just my opinion but, you think Ferrari ? You think red. You think Porsche ? You think silver.
|
Guards Red was always my first choice hands down UNTIL I found my 2000 s Basalt Metalic Black with Boxster Red interior. Maybe a bit hard to keep dust free but on man! What a joy when detailing is done!
So, I vote Triple Black or Metalic Black. |

You DO realize you're only building up his SuperSpy ego even more, right ? (Johnny Danger's I mean  ) All we need is for that %&@ SuperSpy SOB to see this post ! Try going to the site below and maybe that will help settle this thing.... Official Porsche Website - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG :D |

Of course my love of all things Porsche started with a 1974 911 Targa in......Speed Yellow |
I hate to sound like a broken record, but we all well know that Glacier White wins, hands down. I mean, c'mon. Get real...:D

Marine colors: I have a Seal Gray Boxster and a Dolphin Gray Audi
|
I read that dealers tend to order only cars in colors they know will sell --- hence all the black, white and silver / gray cars out there. Mine is black and it looks like a million bucks when it's freshly detailed. It was the best condition / lowest mile car i could find when shopping. If i had to choose ...I would go with the Viola / Purple.

Arctic Silver is classic AND classy, like a tuxedo.
|
The color combo on my car was definitely a deciding factor in buying it - Midnight Blue Metallic and Metropol Blue over Savanna Beige. Classy, and my wife loves it (do not underestimate this, my friends). Granted, dark paints show dirt, but nothing looks better when properly polished. Besides, I've had many silver cars (we currently have two). I would have also not walked away from Rainforest Green Metallic.

There is one, and only one, proper color for a Porsche. Arctic Silver. All others are an abomination, ;)

+1 Not only is it a classic and classy, but it just looks so very right on the Boxster. |
Favorite Color
I was lucky enough to find a triple black 02 with only 41k and the IMS done! It's so classy! The black is so rich. To give it just a little contrast, I am painting the calipers red. Fronts done and as soon as it gets a little cooler I'll finish the rears. These are such beautiful cars.

Best OEM Boxster color? Why, the color of * -MY- * Boxster S --- Speed (formerly Porsche) Yellow. :)
When I was looking to buy a Boxster I originally wanted Arctic Silver. To me, that screamed CLASSIC PORSCHE! Porsche racing, James Dean, and all that. But then I decided that I liked Seal Grey (Gray?) So, of course, I bought one in Speed Yellow. Go figure! :) |

I'm a sucker for the rainforest green, and I always wanted to buy a arctic silver car with red interior when I was on the market.
How ever I have a lot of love for my speed yellow box, I think it looks great with the darker full supple leather option. |
When we ordered our Boxster I wanted Zanzibar Red. It is more of an orange. Wife wanted red.

One of the gent's in our local PCA has a new 911 in Mexico Blue that is very striking. And the Lava Orange is a very bold choice also. I think I could be forced to drive either of those.:D

Triple black: keeping it gleaming is part of the fun.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1471770985.jpg

The dark colors look great after a polish
Take the cover off roll it out of the garage gleaming in the sun Roll it back in and cover it becase the second you drive it all that work is for not Silver - not sure why that's classic porsche. Maybe for an Audi Becase some actor met his untimely end in a silver porsche Plus every other car on the road is silver Best color. Metalic Seal Gray Polish it drive it 2000 miles it still looks great |

I get quite a few compliments on mine. Usually for its uniqueness. Probably wasn't very many peoples first choice of color which is why you don't see it very often. I kinda like it though.

I like Nordischgold. Not an OEM color on 986 cars, but on 987 and 997 cars. Very rare over here in Germany.
In direct sunshine it looks more like orange. http://www.boxster-group.de/ubb/ubbt...7bf38f7.xl.jpg Regards, Markus |
Ocean Jade Metallic.

I only buy cars in the following colors: White, Black, Silver, Yellow and Red and if the red is Guards Red, even better
|
Mine is Pastel Yellow, which looks brilliant and is quite rare. I like Speed Yellow as well, though.
