Ummm...its the speed LIMIT, not a suggestion, Lmao! Of course you should drive at or under it. It's not the speed "minimum".

I usually keep to the limit in town, but on the highway, all bets are off! :D

Absolutely, no two ways about it - Mustangs are the worst. Same thing when I'm on my Speed Triple. Every Mustang wants to see how fast you are and they think nothing of tailgating a motorcycle. I can't count how many times they've been dangerously close, at speed. ****s. Not just the new ones either. Just about any model from 2000 to current.

It's usually in city traffic anyway or at a stop light. Douchebags will be douchebags...

+1

It's on my daily freeway commute to and from work. It has nothing t do with interstates of FM roads. It's city driving where they're the worst, by far.

Tailgating by Mustangs is why I don't carry my gun in the Boxster.

That's exactly what I'm talking about.

In Houston you have to be an idiot to exacerbate a road rage incident. Everyone has a gun! My 65 year old mother-in-law in a Mini carries a gun with her. It's like Thunderdome out there.

Old Fart? Love to hear your game plan on not aging, apparently it includes a "james dean" chapter because you either age or die young. Having said that, people in my age group are actually looking at the road instead of banging out a critical LOL.

Haha! So true Ghostrider.

Anyone think people on cellphones (texting, especially) are more dangerous than people driving drunk?

I haven't had very good luck with brake lights or slowing down. But swerving back and forth suddenly makes them back off 95% of the time. They don't want to be too close behind a crazy driver. :)

I would add to that the stupid trend towards touch-screen radio/NAV. you have to take your eyes off the road to use them.

grubinski 05-07-2012 06:45 AM

I have only owned this car about 3 weeks, but I have DEFINITELY noticed a much higher incidence of idiot driving around it than any of my other cars.

Wild wild west thing is still in effect in Texas with the exception of riding a horse. Usually they tailgate if you are slow or in a hurry, sometimes I tailgate when I drive my Box I get heavy footed like everyone else here, this car has a never a dull moment. :D

Interesting you say that. I've been thinking about the best place to holster mine. Under the seat looks promising, if I can attach a holster securely enough.

Back to the original subject, though. I popped on the rear fog lamps when a guy was tailgating me. Apparently it looked enough like brake lights to him....

jotoole 05-07-2012 11:52 AM

I've come to believe that, for the most part, tailgaters are just incredibly stupid. How many times have we all seen 10 or more cars in the high speed lane, doing 75 in a 65 zone, bumpers inches from the guy ahead. Almost as if they are trying to help the second car in the lineup push the lead car to go faster.
I regret asking a fella in a mediocre well used van why he had been tailgating me, I mean right on my _ss. And all the while he simply could've moved to the passing lane and passed me, easily. We came to a red light and I got out, walked back to him, and asked. I swear, his answer was "because you are not staying far enough ahead of me."

jotoole 05-07-2012 12:11 PM

I holster my .45 semi-auto in either my shoulder holster or a paddle holster (Israeli Army type) on my belt. It rides high enough be be comfortable while seated. Carried a .45 in Vietnam, a Colt model 1911.
Among other weapons.

No excuse for tailgating a motorcycle, that's just not right.

particlewave 05-07-2012 01:36 PM

I've been wanting a .45, but I've decided that I need to get my mild case of road rage under control first. ;)

springer123 05-07-2012 03:18 PM

I noticed the same thing. It probably happens at least once a week. It rarely happens when I'm driving my pickup. Maybe they just want a closer look!

AndyA6 05-07-2012 03:56 PM

I just let them pass.....

I DO seem to slow down a bit with Danger's "Tom Jones" CD playing. I must send it back to him............?
