I thought you bought this from an authorized dealer, I bought one from a "larry" the first time. The original 986 had three keys, one being a valet, mine came with one. It's not uncommon when you go the Larry route as replacing said keys is a gouge to the bottom line net profit. You probably have to just take really good care of your "key", in the end my one key had no nexxus with why I had to sell the car.
