Windows keep coming down after going bumps on road

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me with my 1998 Boxster.
When I go over a pot hole or rough road (anything actually) the passenger and drivers windows come down as if I am going to retract the roof. It has only started this weekend.
I retract the lever at the rear view mirror and then reinsert and press the windows back up. It doesn't stay up for long before they come down again.
I take it something is loose or broken with the roof lever ? or could anyone please advise where I should start the investigation or what is causing the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Craig

from what i understand, the microswitch is known to go bad and when it does, this is one of the things that happens. for some the windows won't go up / down when the top is opened.

the switch itself is $42 from pelican.

Pelican Parts - Product Information: 986-613-795-02-M100

don't know the steps to install / fix.

In the meantime, weather permitting, lower each window a small amount past the point they automatically lower for putting the top down; that should stop the triggering.

Windows keep coming down after going bumps on road

Hi guys, thanks for the advice. I did a bit of investigation on the forum and read about the microswitch. I have bought one from Ebay but will have a go with the "lowering windows" and see how it goes.

Thanks for the prompt reply.
