Rate your Mods.

ok here's how I feel with regards to bang for the buck for my modfications.
1 = the best

1. Ebay 'plastic chrome' grill strips ($25) can't miss.
2. Porsche License plate Frame ($10) very classy
3. Porsche spoiler logo ($20, only visible when going fast!)
4. 550 edition Crhome BoxsterS badge ($50) = winner!
5. Sideskirts ($1000 painted and installed) = must have for 18's
6. Carrer 5 spoke Wheels ($1900 delivered) = Very Porsche
7. GT3 Seats (only visible from the outside so one step below the wheels)
8. Window tinting ($100 and a couple of compliments)
9. Clear tail lights and side markers ($180 & not one non-pcar person noticed)
10. Litronics ($1100 Brandywine group buy) save your money or get a pair of clear halogens. This mod will always be at the bottom due to the price.

Overall I'm happiest with the seats. At least 7 comments while they were driving!
The best mod I've ever done to a car. Completey changes the driving experince.
Not cheap hence its #7

But the sideskirting I think has been the most effective mod if you take away
price, definitely the biggest visual change. From every angle the car looks much more 'porsche" err If you know what I mean.
The Wheels are also a huge change in attitude for what I think is a low cost relative to the entire cost of the car.

Future mods.
GT3 front bumper and Supercup lip(if I can ever get it down to the bodyshop!)
Silver hood crest $100
sliver center console $350
red leather shifter and e-brake: too expensive to admit!

and yes other than tires NO PERFORMANCE MODS. I learned my lesson with my last car.

Wow, that is an impressive not to mention expensive mod list. As of now I have done very little to my car. I have a good bit in mind but am torn. I really want a boxster S so i feel i should save my money now and put the mods + money into my next one. I figure to get into an S, i'll have to save about $10K+sell off my 99. Gonna take awhilek, so i'm learning to enjoy what I have now. Maybe in a year or so i'll be on the look out. Until then i'll keep thinking about inexpensive mods. I'd love to see pics of your car. Post some if your able.

short shift kit

I drove a carrera 4 (2000) that had a short shift kit. My god what a difference it makes. Any thoughts on a good kit for the box? You clearly know your mods well and i'd love to hear your thoughts.

thank you....

1-10 10 being the best
Factory Aero kit 1 9 (I like to be dif.)
EVO intake 8 (the sound and power is great)
B&M SSK 9 (the stock shifter feels like a truck)
Cargraphic Muffler 6 (sound good power OK)
wheel spacers 15mm rear 7mm front 4 (looks a little better)
clear corner and tail lights 8 (I hated the amber)
silver hood crest 7 (did not like the gold)
silver Porsche valve covers 3 (cheap ebay)
SS pedal set 3 (autovation off of ebay quality sucks)
Custom headlight covers 8 (like the look)
Eibach lowering springs 9 with a hook I like the look and ride but had many issues getting it aligned. Eibach sent me springs that sit 1/2" to low in the rear. I would do coilovers or H&R's but eibach had the worst customer service.

"Bang for the Buck?"

If "bang for the buck" is part of the criteria, there aren't too many items one can really list, seeing as how everything is so expensive. But if I had to pick one, it'd be clear (no amber) tail lights. I think that $160 mod goes the furthest in visual appeal while remaining quite affordable. It can make a 97 look as fresh as an 04!

(I may be bias seeing as how I am an optics-fiend.)

But if you want even MORE bang for the buck, no mod can beat RAIN-X @ $1.99!
