Cal Smog test after Cleaning MAF

I thought I'll cover my bet by cleaning the MAF and the throttle body before going for Calif smog check. at the smog test, the OBD2 hookup showed that 4 out of 6 "items" were not up to providing detail for the smog test.
the technician said for me to go and drive for 50 miles or so and come back.
after 70 miles, three out of 6 items were still not ready... I did not ask what the "items" were.. My question is
After disconnecting the MAF, does the engine control unit need to re-acquire the relevant data for use by the smog checker. or am I looking at lots of repair $$$?
The car is my DD and runs without any problem. idle is steady, rev up well, etc. have 115K miles on 01 2.7L

thanks in advance.
