Thumbs up Hello, I just bought my first Porsche

I bought a Viola 2001 Boxster S yesterday. I was looking to get back into a sporty car and test drove a Z3 and a Boxster. NO CONTEST!

So now I have had about 24 hours of driving and/or wishing I was driving my Porsche.

This is the first Porsche I've ever had, and I gotta say it is sweet. Looking forward to putting more miles on it, and learning a thing or three on these boards.

T.

The feeling hasn't faded. I still look for a reason to drive her.

Hi, T. What's happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Yeah. Did you get that memo?
Ah! Yeah. It's just we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports before they go out now. So if you could go ahead and try to remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!

Office Space rocks, welcome to the forum and enjoy your new ride.

The dealership listed it as Viola, so I hope they were right. If not, my appologies. Though this example isn't mine, it is identical:

Mmmmm...I'm thinkin' not. (Apology not necessary! ) Maybe Arena Red?? There's another exterior color that's close, too. Can't remember the name of it at the moment. Used to be a website that showed various Boxster colors (Yoseif's Boxster Gallery), but I can't seem to locate it anymore. In any case, yours is one not seen all that often. Looks good...

I did a quick google search and found this color chart. Looking at it, I agree with Frodo that it is probably Arena Red Metalic. Take a look at the sticker in your front trunk, there should be a color code on it, which you can look up on this chart.

Hmm, maybe I was wrong, as I just noticed that the years listed for Arena Red Metalic are 1997-2000. Unless, your car was built in late 2000 and was listed as a 2001. Listed below, are color charts for 2000 and 2001, that I found elsewhere, which only list that color for 2000 and not for 2001. Regardless, you should be able to use the color code on the sticker to let you know which color it is for sure.

Yeah, I took a look at those color charts you (ubii) found...it was the Orient Red that I was thinking of as "the other" color, but looking at those swatches they provide, it doesn't really look right. The old Gallery website that I referred to above was more helpful: It showed whole cars in each respective color---much easier to get the real feel of how each color looked on the car. I swear, that swatch for Orient Red doesn't look quite right to me...

Hardly matters, he should just enjoy the car regardless of what the color is called!

Welcome and enjoy the Boxster...I sure love mine. And I also drove a Z3 and was not even impressed...that car was a major disappointment for me to the Boxster.

The paint code is for Orient Red Metallic. Sorry for the confusion. In looking at the paint swatches, I'm not sure I would have been able to pull the trigger on a purple Boxster.

As an Aggie, this color comes pretty close to our beloved Maroon.

Welcome! My guess was orient red from the pic...nice color!

I am actually dreaming of owning a 996 turbo in orient red with black. Only seen it once and is stunning!
