EvoMS intake replacement filter (oil or oilless)

My cone filter is a little beat (starting to get twisted and doesn't clean as well as it once did), so I'm going to replace it.

1) Anyone tried an oilless filter with the Evolution Motorsports intake?

2) If you have replaced the EvoMS filter with another oiled filter, which make/model did you use?

Thanks!

I too thought about replacing my filter. Not that there was anything wrong it - I just didn't feel like cleaning it . However, after speaking with EVOMS, they indicated that the shape and size of their filter was propriety, and there wasn't an aftermarket alternative . In addition, EVOMS insisted that it was "life time" filter . And, with proper cleaning it should never have to be replaced . If on rare occasion one had to be replaced, the price was something like $90 .
p.s. As strange as it may sound, EVOMS indicated that the filter for the 986 intake should be oiled . Whereas the 987 should be used dry .

Update: I picked up a K&N RC-4690 - it's a little longer than the filter supplied with the EvoMS intake, but it fits in the air box and clamps onto the intake pipe. It's also $40-50 cheaper than the original filter.

I have the evolution motorsports air intake. I need to clean it. So question is oil or not?

I contacted EvoMS regarding this issue a couple of years ago - the filter for the 986 gets oiled. Oddly, the 987 filter does not.

Strange. I called them today asking about the replacement filter and asked and it was almost as if the guy didn't know. Yeah, pretty sure it gets oiled... When I look at mine...it looks just like the pic online. Blue in color...not red as if soaked by some type of kandn oil. Are there other oils?

I use the K&N cleaning/oil kit. It's important to let the filter thoroughly dry before putting a light mist of oil on it. Also, if you scroll down this thread a bit, you'll see my post from almost 2 years ago confirming this issue with EvoMS. The person to speak with is Ian.

Also, after you spray the oil let the filter sit overnight before installing it.

I am cleaning mine now. I will oil it tomorrow. I looked on the base of it and found the product number. It is an AFE filter model number 24-30003. I just ordered one (it will be blue in color) and it was $51 with free shipping. This - I believe - is the original filter with my evoms intake.
