Sunglasses

What sunglasses do you wear while driving your Boxster (JD’s response should be good)? I wear Maui Jim; I find them comfortable, lightweight, and durable.

Transitions lenses in my Mykita (German design & manufacture, naturally) prescription frames ;^)
But those only work with the top down; luckily (?) it's typically not sunny here this time of year.

love (and only use) my maui jim's

A couple variations of this, but the color and shading are what I love the best...I can go into a sunrise or sunset without being blinded. I have worn them for the last 15 years, oh yeah...they are industrial safety glasses!

I loaned mine out a few years ago, and I never got them back .:(

I use to have Transition lenses many years ago, I now wear contacts. Have you considered wearing contacts? No more fogging, no more spots from rain, and better visibility. But you have to remember to wear safety glasses when working under your cars.

Your driving without sunglasses? How can a man with international undercover work do that???

fivepointnine 01-08-2012 03:05 PM

I use Oakley Canteens (I get them cheap with my government account with Oakley)

John99Boxster 01-08-2012 03:09 PM

I mostly work at night, or under the covers .

None, I can't read the dials without my bifocals.

MileHighBoxster 01-08-2012 05:52 PM

When driving, hiking, kayaking, tennis, bicycling or almost anything I wear these Edge Dakuras which are polarized (required at altitude) military impact rated, ansi and osha rated and practically unbreakable. Oh, and $39.99 here in Denver. The best. And they come in copper, dark, blue and green (U.S. Air Force color) http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ain/dakura.jpg http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/j...ain/edge-1.jpg

Gforrest2 01-08-2012 06:12 PM

+1 on the Maui Jims. Yeah, they're expensive, but the optics are first rate. On my bike, I use Wileyx, mainly for the wind protection. They're expensive too and IMHO, not worth the big $$$.

ekam 01-08-2012 06:26 PM

It's the only Porsche Design item I own I swear!!!

Went out with a girl who used to work in the sunglasses industry and she says the profit margin on any sunglasses are silly... 80%+ and up.

It always starts at the top. Then ends with the unmentionables. Are you sure all you have are the glasses?

Ray Ban Pilots model, prescription lenses. Old Habits die hard!

stateofidleness 01-08-2012 07:31 PM

Ray Ban Aviators w/ mirror lenses! (polarized)
Best glasses I've ever owned.

Pirate50 01-08-2012 08:58 PM

Serengeti's with sedona lenses. Have 5 pairs, different frame styles, kind of an addiction. I used to have Maui Jim's also, but my eye doctor showed me that the optics aren't nearly as good as the Serengeti's. Sorry to break that to the MJ wearers.

Ray Ban Traditionals, bought them when I got my latest Pcar, excellent optics and quality. I purchased them because of the Ray Ban Clubmasters I bought in 1995 to celebrate ordering an Impala SS, still wear those in my DD 17 years later.

Uh...after 17 years, have you considered removing the Ray Ban sticker??

MileHighBoxster 01-09-2012 03:19 PM

Frodo, it appears he says he bought a different pair (clubmasters) in the 90's. :)

Ray Ban Sticker? You mean that comes off? ;)

Speaking of stickers, this one is still on the fuel gauge of the 1996 993 I bought, pretty cool:

Now that is one hell of a creepy picture

Highlow 01-10-2012 08:04 AM

I paid $12 for my current pair of sunglasses.

I got them at a gas station somewhere near gainesville.

WhipE350 01-10-2012 04:49 PM

Whatever is disposable from Walmart. I actually have some Maxx from the golf course but I always forget to bring them with me, so I squint a lot  Guess I better step up and get something cool like all you guys.

Wow, I found a suitable replacement .

Frodo 01-11-2012 04:05 AM

Oh Baby, I GOT to get me a pair of them!

I think it's generally agreed people sort of act a little differently towards somebody drivin' a P-car. No doubt to a different degree in, say, Ohio compared to, say, California...nevertheless: Can you imagine the reactions you'd get drivin' with a pair of these slapped on your face???? Priceless.

I got the Serengeti Paolo Polarized. I use prescription glasses so i just toss these on top of mine and they look pretty good and they fit perfect. Im thinking about getting the lens prescribed but I have to get a quote first.

Just so you know if you guys got a costco near your area go to their optics department and look at there sunglass selection. You will definitely be pleased with the prices. I Paid $75 for mine. These retail for $230. So ya just trying to help out.
