The 986 is my Third Porsche, recently it replaced an '81 91 SC, which replaced an '86 944 NA.

Fun fact - both the Boxster and the Miata are black, has hardtops and tan interiors! My oldest son is the one using the Miata.

Hei,

I lived in Hildevag(Stavanger) for a couple of years. I'm pretty sure they are eating you up in taxes for the multiple vehicles and using those extra seats in the back of the 7 seater LOL Weight of the car, size of the engine, horsepower, etc can leave one shaking their heads just as hard as the inspector shaked their suspension system during the inspection when submitting a payment LOL

Welcome to the forum and enjoy your Boxster.

Lykke til,

Chris

Ok, so I had some free time on my hands on a rainy night and here are some statistics gathered from this thread:

300 people responded
The average age of the respondents is: 47 years old
The oldest respondent is: 78
The youngest respondent is: 16
The #1 Occupation is: Retired with 42 respondents
The #2 Occupation is: Engineer with 31 respondents
There are 10 business owners, 11 Pilots, 12 managers, 6 technicians, 5 project managers, and 7 students.

Now we should start a thread with geographic location to see where everyone is from!!

p.s. I didn't include myself as I am technically not a Boxter owner; YET. I'm waiting for my financing to go through.

I would say #1 occupation is Engineer; Retirement is not an Occupation.

51, retired senior NCO in the army ( REDLEG ), Drive Truck now for a little extra spending money, 2000 Boxster base just recently purchased ( Sept 2019). first Porsche and only reason I got interested is because my old commander purchased a 2000 beginning of the year. That's when I started to look at them.

Bald Eagle 12-20-2019 05:57 AM

I'll update my response as I'm now 79 years old which I guess makes me the most senior respondent and own an almost pristine 2000S. I've put about 30,000 miles on it since buying it with 10,800 miles in 2014. I'm a semi-retired adviser, coach, consultant to small businesses, public speaker and author. I've had sports cars since a 1960 bugeye Sprite (bought new) though this is my first Porsche. My boxster comes out of hibernation in 99 days but who's counting?

33 Mechanic.

My S.O. had a '99 base boxster with a slush box a couple of years ago. Since then I've wanted one with a manual and some sticky tires. Not to mention wanting one with some go power.

64 and retired. Worked most every kind of job you could over the years including managing commercial property for 20 years. Have had a shop on the side since I was 14 and have flipped/restored over 400 cars and motorcycles over the last 50 years, 25 were Porsches. Have just had my 8th set of hand surgeries. Surgeon says I am done working on them so I am just enjoying driving and maintaining them now. My current Porsche is a 1997 986 Boxster with 66k miles in rare Pastel Yellow paint.

55 for the next few months. Career electrician, maintenance supervisor for the commercial division of a property management company now.

First Porsche. Nice change from dirt bikes, road bikes, off road 4x4 racing, and circle track cars. Plus it hurts too much to do most of that stuff any more. Enjoying the re-power project as I have time and it gives me something to look forward to in the spring.

My other ride is a year old 2 door Rubicon.

And an old work truck. Ya gotta have one of those for manly activities and yard work. Lol.

11 pilots! There has to be more. Driving these cars is just as thrilling as flying; to a degree. I flew F-18s in the Navy and now I fly an older Israeli jet (F-21 Kfir) and also a a really old British Fighter (Mk-58 Hawker Hunter). At times, I have the same reaction climbing into my '04 S as I do when I strap into the Kfir. Love these cars but more importantly I love this Forum and the people who are a part of it. Merry Christmas all!

BYprodriver 12-21-2019 11:02 AM

57 year old professional auto enthusiast. I have worked at a dozen or so automotive companies, 4 tire stores, Shelby, Saleen, & then 3 companies in the automotive press fleet management industry, the 1st of which had the Porsche account!!
I never liked Porsche's because they were so slow at drag racing. (I made a little money street racing in my younger years.) So I got a job as a test driver for the company that had the Porsche account along with most of the other brands in 2000 MY.
Driving the 1st 996 I had ever been close to completely changed my mind about Porsche
When the new Boxster 'S' arrived it was love at 1st drive. Overall I loved the job. I delivered cars to celebrities for Jaguar & I couldn't wait for weekends to end so I could get back to "work". Management change made me want to quit so I did & started working on cars in my garage & eventually started rebuilding M96 engines starting with my own 3.6. :D

Done production work in factories producing aircraft engines, electric consumer products, metal fabrication and garment. I retired as a ACMT (Apple certified Macintosh technician). Since retirement I have become a SCPT (Self certified Porsche technician).

I have looked over the last few years of this thread and recognise some names of currently active contributors... it is interesting to know a bit more about who we are exchanging with. We should put these mini-biographies in our "User CP"s. I often check out the User CP of forum members to get an idea of who they are.

Love the idea that pastors drive Porsche. Seems to be completely impossible over here in Germany.
