Muffler question

I have a 2000 Bxster S. The muffler is Borla. Too loud for my taste (have to admit I do like it sometimes). Looking for a stock muffler. I know the S comes with twin tail pipes. I really don't care about the single or twin tail end. Are the mufflers model specific? i.e., do non-S 2.5 fit the 2.7 and 3.2 S? I have stock header and cats. Thanks,

not 100% sure
as far as I know S and non-S have different mount points for the muffler
So if I were you I'd look for a "S" muffler

Advertise it on Craigslist locally and you'll likely find someone who wants to trade with you. Meet them at a muffler shop and pay the shop to do the exchange. Both sides win.

I know this thread is old as can be, but the one area on my 03 S I wanted to upgrade (moderately inexpensively, anyway) was a Borla cat-back. You had said too-loud - would you mind explaining that in a little more detail?

I appreciate your thoughts and any information.

I changed everything back to stock including the radio. I do not know how to explain the sound. Its not loud to an extent where it is ilegal. It is just louder then stock. Swapped to stock and have the Borla and the headers. It has a S mount but i think a non S should be a quick fix as the plate is flat. I also have the non S mount plate -oem. It is a very light muffler compared to stock. PM me if you are interested. I will be putting it for sale soon.
