Anyone Need a Boxster Magnetic Drain Plug??
Bought the materials to make my own Magnetic Drain plug and was forced to buy more supplies than I actually needed to make just one for Myself.
My extra supplies seem to be lasting forever!!! Includes the drain plug and gasket with very strong RARE EARTH MAGNET fused onto the plug. These are great indicators of how much metal you have floating around in your oil and also great for detecting IMS bearing failure before its too late. $16 shipped each. PM me and let me know if any of you guys need one?? http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1324921091.jpg |
Mine just got here today. This was money well spent as the plug is really nice. Thanks!!!
|
If I purchase one can you send a few extra gaskets so I can replace them at each oil change? Thanks
|
Hi, I do not have any spare gaskets unfortunately, each plug I buy only comes with one gasket.
You can buy gaskets at local stores I imagine |
Can you ship to Malta? EU.
|
I can ship anywhere in the world if you like.

Are the magnetic drain plugs THE solution?
I don't think so because the interval between checks of the drain plug is less than the interval between beginning of failure and boom. What is that interval? Less than 500 miles and no one is going to check the plug (or the filter) that often. Install drain plug ... drive a while ... failure starts ... IMS sheds ... parts collect on plug ... boom happens ... your next 3k (or whenever) check was scheduled to happen and you would have caught it if the 5th item was before the 7th. But if it wasn't (and there is a better chance it wasn't) your plug may not have done anything for you. Now if you detect around the 4th to 5th item, then any ferrous bits may have been trapped by the plug and saved from ingestion. So I'm not saying the item is useless, just that its chances of helping you are the product of the probability of IMS failure in the first place times the probability that your check was in the right interval. My guess is that total is about 1/10 of 1% per car year. |
Not sure about everyone else but my magnetic plug on my car collects stuff between oil changes....that would otherwise be floating around in the oil.......

I'll take on shipped to NJ... paypal work?

I'll pick up some fiber ones for the next change. I've re-torqued it to spec but it won't completely stop leaking. |
I might have a spare fiber one if you would like me to send it bud?
