glare off a silver hood?

The main thing holding me back from chosing arctic silver is I'm concerned that the reflection of the sun off the hood creates too much glare.

My eyes are a little on the sensitive side. I usually can spend the day outside without sunglasses, but I prefer not to.

Anybody with a silver Porsche have any difficulty with reflected sunlight?

I have an artic silver 99 boxster and keep it spotless, w/ 2 coats of wax. Doesnt get much more shiny than mine. I have never had any problems w/ glare. I think your seating stance is to low to reflect from hood. If your in an area that has a 986 for sale go check it out. You'll see what I meen. I will say i love the silver as a daily driver. It hides dirt and imperfections such as dings and chips. However it doesnt have quite the gloss a black or blue would have. Just my opinion. Either way you go i can't imagine you regretting your decision to purchase a boxster. Good luck w/ what ever you decide and use this forum as much as u can.

Glare is not a problem in Western, NY

I am fortunate enough to own a 2000 Boxter S in Artic Silver. Unlike Southern California, in Western NY, reflected glare is not much of an issue. On the notable occasion when the sun does shine, I also have not noticed a glare off the hood.

2001 Arctic Grey. No issues whatsoever with glare on the hood.

No glare issues at all with my Artic Silver.

I totally agree with nautiquelfe. The Silver may not look as great as the others after a good wash, but it certainly hides dirt well.

get some sunglasses

I think you will notice that the hood on a Boxster slopes toard the front bumper substantially. I can't even see much of the hood unless I put my seat up really high - then my head is above the roll bar. You should test drive one and you will see what I mean. My silver boxster has no more glare than my black car. Go to a parking lot and you will observe that the suns hot white glare off a painted, polished metal surface is the same no matter what the color car.

I think sunglasses are in order for you. Maybe Richard Beloff will sell you a pair. (He seems to use this site as his personal flea market.)
