Best aid for removing Boxster badge (to install new one)

The WD-40 thread in this group prompted me to ask this question: what would be the best liquid to apply around the Boxster emblem to help remove it so I can install my cool new chrome-ish one?

The objective of course is to loosen the adhesive while having zero negative impact on the paint or clear coat.

The Bentley manual shows how to use dental floss or fishing line to saw the emblem off without harming the paint. They suggest warming it up with a hair dryer first.

Yup, I saw that. I saw a post elsewhere that also suggested using an agent to loosen the adhesive first, but don't recall what was recommended.

Waxed Dental Floss will do it...just do it slowly..

Once you have removed the badging you can use Goo Gone to remove residual adhesive.

Goo gone is safe on paint, I assume?

You will probably have a ghost image around the old one from built up wax etc. You may want to use a buffing compound and a soft cloth to remove that, just be sure you measure the old one for reference.

I actually like it better without any badge.

Yes it is normally. By normally I mean that if you have a factory/professional paint job (non-Krylon) it is. I know some people have differing paint (factory vs. ??) so, as always, I advise a test spot first but I've always used it for this purpose. Additionally, it may be fine for Krylon and Rustoleum as well, I just wouldn't know.
