Strange idling

I have a 1998 Boxster - 60000km

I have noticed that occasionally the engine idles very ruff and I can feel vibration of the engine through the seat.

It doesn't always occur though which is strange.
Also it doesn't idle exactly on 900rpm - it tends to waver very slightly up and down, this in't normal is it?

any ideas?

Try adding a bottle of Techron from Chevron to clean the carbon out the next time you fill up. Run it at some higher RPMs too, around 5000, when you go down the highway. Just warm it up well then keep it in 3rd or 4th depending on your speed. That will usually take care of a rough idle unless it's a real mechanical problem.

Ditto on the Chevron injector cleaner. Also make sure your air filter is clean.

Good luck!
