Put in a CD

I have noticed bad AM reception as well, but have not noticed anything due to acceleration. I don't listen to AM very often so it had not been a major concern of mine. As far as a solution I don't have one mysefl, but suggest you go to your local audio guru's in your town and ask them. I'm sure they would at least be able to point you in the right direction.

Angry Poor AM reception

Yes, the AM reception is very poor. Here North of Boston there are a number of very strong AM stations and I still have poor reception only 20 miles North of Boston. I agree, use the CD player and forget AM.

With the problem being related to engine running/acceleration, it sounds like a classic ignition noise interference. In the old days, this was very common on lots of cars; the solution was either to find the source of the noise (bad or loose spark plug wire, distributor cap, sometimes even the plug itself) and fix it or get a noise suppressor (electronic filter).
