Convertible top care

What do you folks recommend for taking care of the convertible top.

Any treatments required to maintain the top?

I have a black top and while washing the car I just brushed the top with water.

I was not sure if soap or any products are recommended and I did not want to mess it up so I just rinsed and brushed the dirt off.

Comments, suggestions?

To keep the top in good condition you must treat it periodically with a protectant and water repellant. The two that most people use are Rag Top, and 303 High Tech Fabric Guard. They will restore the water repellency and inhibit UV degradation of the fabric.
Pick the one you want to use, they both work. If you use 303 Fabric Guard, brush it on instead of spraying it. Rag Top is available online and you can get 303 at the marine supply store and also online.

BTW, if your top is not beading water, it is time to recoat it with protectant.

303 is easier to find, I spray it on then use a sponge or clean cloth to spead it evenly
