Amberectomy?

Hola -

After spending the afternoon looking at my headlamp assemblies yesterday (removing the bumper cover to replace the center radiator), I started Googling de-ambering the car. I came across some posts on rennlist about using a soldering iron to detach the orange from the lens from the inside. I still can't find the DIY for it, but what I find has led me to ask this question:

The posts I have read all refer to the "Litronic" lights. I don't know if users are just using it as a generic term for the headlamp unit. I don't have Litronics though, just the standard headlamp assembly (2002 Boxster S). Is this procedure exclusive to the Litronic option? Or does it work on all ambered headlamps?

TIA.
