What is this part?

I was working on the car today and this fell from underneath, but I've no idea where. Any ideas?

How does your clutch feel? On second thought don't push your clutch in, you'll spit out the slave puck.

Yeah, too late unfortunately. Clutch is messed up.

I'm guessing I need a new clutch slave. Anything else?

In fact, do I need a new clutch slave? I pressed the clutch and then fluid came out of the slave. Where do I go from here?

Clean the puck and rubber seal and reinsert it. You'll need to re-bleed the clutch which is no big deal. I think you might have a little bigger problem though...your clutch may be so worn, and the play so great, that rod won't stay in place.

I have a Tiptronic and don't know about clutch adjustments on a Boxster.

Anyone want to chime in to help a brother out? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

The clutch itself is almost new, just a few months old.

the little round piece is indeed the actuation rod for the slave cylinder. in your photos, the actuation rod is under the black boot.

if you press the clutch without the rod in place, it is possible to burst the slave cylinder. how did this rod even come out? with everything properly in place, it's not really likely.....

at any rate, get a new slave cylinder to be sure. they're less than $100. get it installed & then you'll need to bleed the clutch. a power bleeder works best if you can get your hands on one. the motive power bleeder for porsches is around $60 i think. well worth it in this case.

I ordered the part today and some new brake fluid, and will get it on Wednesday.

Be sure to have enough brake fluid on hand to also flush and bleed the brakes!

The brakes and clutch use a common fluid reservoir. If you do not flush/bleed them at the same time, you'll contaminate the new fluid in short order.

It's an easy procedure and you'll be good to go for two years!

Replacing the clutch slave can be quite tricky. Just very awkward to get at..
