Request for bolt guidance - heatshield to muffler

Hi all,

Somehow, a bolt holding my exhaust system heatshield to the muffler has dissapeared during my travels. This has made the car develop a nasty/trashy rattle.

Does anyone know the size/length/setup of this bolt? I'm asking while at work - if this fails, I'll pull the other side and go to a shop to get a matching version

And if that fails, JB Weld! Hehehe

Joe

the only heat shields that bolt to the exhaust are for the cats, so i'll assume this is what you're referring to. they should be M6x1.0 and 12mm long.

Are you sure...

more importantly, are you sure the bolt is gone? Usually what happens is the shield corrodes (due to the different metals - alum & steel) and the ensuing hole causes it to fall from the bolt. If such the case w/ yours as it has for so many others, just pick up some fender washers to put on the bolt and reattached heat shield.

When I looked for what was rattling (and evaluated whether I could simply bend it out of the way) I saw a clear bolt hole going through the heat shield and down into the exhaust. I will re-evaluate
