... they're just different options, such as the full power vs partial power seats, radio options casstte vs CD, etc.
The three cars are very similar, but they did have differences:
1997 had weak upper struts and suspension supports so they couldn't use 18" wheels.
1998 and on were reinforced and 18" wheels became an option.
1997 had two door locks (driver and passenger). '98 and newer only one on the driver's side.
1997 and 1998 had soft (leather) storage above the engine as an option. 1999 came w/plastic.
1998 and newer came with side-impact airbags in the doors.
1999 had a slightly bigger fuel tank than the '97 and '98.
1997 hard top has slightly protruding "ears" which were eliminated in 1998 and newer.
I'm sure there are a couple of other differences which I don't recall right now.
