Bad things happen in 3's.......

My horror month continues with the box........

Firstly an older man sidswipes me on the road...... 1 week off the road. All fixed and repainted
Secondly AOS fails....Mushroom cloud of smoke.... 3 days off the road. All fixed.
THIRDLY, clutch completely goes leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere.... New clutch, flywheel (2 pages of little parts)........3000€ inc labour bill the quote??

Seem crazy expensive when compared to some quoted repaire costs Ive seen here by other members. But I have no options here in Slovenia. Only the 1 dealer. NO independent mechanics....

So 3000€ it is. Will be gone for the next week (no parts in stock, a couple days to come from germany).

I asked about checking/doing the IMS but they have told me it been done before by the looks?? and that all is perfect. They actually told me the problem is more so an issue with 996 not 986??? Hope they know what there doing, sometimes I wonder.

Does it have to go to a Porsche specialist for the clutch? Could not a good generalist mechanic do this work for you. Some people do it at home, so surely a professional could manage the job?

clutch is very easy on this car. i can do it in 2.5hrs in my garage with no air and no lift.

I would say any shop that replaces clutches should be able to R&R a boxster clutch. O.P. probably should replace flywheel due to difficulty in getting service & parts in his area.

2.5 hours to do a clutch job ? It would be worth it to me to have you do mine when it needs it. I have air and stands. Can I buy you a round trip ticket to Idaho ?
