This is a question that I would love your input on. Im the original owner of a 2002 Boxster, and have driven it mostly on freeways, usually drive by myself. It is unusual that I drive it on local roads. I have noticed, especially when someone is riding with me on rough local roads, that there is a significant amount of banging, behind the passenger seat that sounds like boards slamming, especially when I hit a bump.

Recently, I have also been hearing it when I ride by myself on rough pavement local roads. When I mentioned it to my service manager, he said it is an affliction of the older Boxsters, and there is really nothing to be done.

Have you seen this? What would you recommend? Thank you.

How many miles on your MY02. If 45K+ and the front motor mount has never been replaced. I would start there.

Thanks for that recommendation. I've just hit 118,000 miles on it, and have never had the mounts looked at to my knowledge.

See attached photo on what happens to the motor mount... The rubber compound will eventually break lose.
