wind stop

stupid question dont believe my car came with them, def not the mesh based on my research.

question, the center piece. which part are the latches on, the head rest bar or the insert itself? i have the plastic pieces on each side but no latches, so if they are on the insert i can go aftermarket. if not then my pieces are broken.

ive searched and pic are impossible and info is not straight forward for what i need answered.

thanks
steve

Do you have a 986 or 987?
The latches are on the plastic insert on my 987.

I had same issue, got the windscreen but no latches
If you have 986 then you need locking levers, they go into the bar between seats

You can get them from your dealership for 10$ each.
Or you can order them online. I got mine from pelican parts for 4.50 each
986-561-737-01-01C-OEM - WINDSTOP LOCKING LEVER

sorry about the info.

2001 boxster base

i have plastic pieces on the inner side of the head rest roll bars but no latch. just an area to input a nipple part.

so it seems the latch is broken from these pieces? hmm means no aftermarket wind deflector without the oem hardware.

The nipple part is exactly where levers are installed. Wind deflector will be locked with those levers

A picture would help a lot!

That's where (red arrow) the locking levers are installed.
OEM windscreen just snaps into them

Sasha

PS: I'll take a pic tomorrow morning so you can see how it looks installed

ok so based on the url and the pics and your pics. the latches are totally separate from both the head rest and the middle insert. seems they would get lost if not connected to anything.

seems easy enough to buy two latches i guess. then buy this aftermarket which is for the money a better deal than oem to me.

Sorry it took so long to take promised pics

Levers are attached to Windscreen.
Winscreen is attached to the bar between seats using levers.

In the pictures:

1. Lever is attached to windscreen
2. That's my bar between the seats, looks just like your, nothing needs to be there
3. Winscreen is locked to the bar using levers

Thanks
Sasha

The original wind stop is a complete piece of clear plastic with a black plastic reinforcements on 3 sides.... there is a groove at the bottom of the black plastic (that fits to protruding plastic piece on the lower part of your roll bar) and there are 2 latches on either side of the wind stop that fits into the plastic attachment on your roll bars...

Based on your pictures, you already have all the necessary plastic pieces on your car, you just need to right wind stop to fit.

I got my original lexan wind stop from ebay... don't think it was that expensive.. That's what you need... it's a complete piece with the latches and all..

yeah im on the google hunt. since im bald i dont really need one but i think the cosmetic affect from the etched/tinted aftermarket one i put an url up for would look great. that being said, i cant spend new money on an oem piece that i just want to borrow pieces from.
