Out of Storage!!!!!

Here's to all of us that wait for the snow and salt to go away. My baby popped right off after a small battery charge. Five months is way to long not to drive this car!

Anyway to all of you that store your car. It sure is nice to be back!!!

Now on to polishing and nick nacks...I think I want wheel spacers, rear speakers and a mod muffler...(99 Red)

Well mine wasn't exactly in storage, but haven't driven it much since last fall. Local weatherman said we're setting or we've set a record for the most rainy days here. And that's saying something, coming from Seattle. Gonna rain this weekend but today was nice and dry. A little smoke at start up, but she fired right up. Took the top down and ran a few errands. And yes, it felt good.

A quick charge is NOT good for the battery. Next time store the car with a battery maintainer......not a battery charger.

Also, store the car cleaned & polished. Don't leave it for months dirty & un-detailed.

I plan to get the Boxster out in the next 2-3 weeks. I need to spray 3-4 light/med coats of Ragg Topp on the clean cab top. Did the Ragg Topp cleaner in the fall. Now it just needs the protectant.

You are lucky to be in Wisconsin, lots of gas stations with 93 octane and NO ALCOHOL!!

Yup no ethanol is great. But it's 91 octane with no ethanol and 93 with, ohh and 4 bucks a gallon now. Just pulled my car out of storage. Now we will see what needs to be fixed, so far for me rear wheel bearings.

You need to look better. 93 no alcohol is very easy to find. Just bought over 30 gallons yesterday. List link will assist your efforts:

Great link for the gas stations. Closest one to me is 1/2 hour away for 93 pure gas. I appreciate the link.

Bring a DOT approved gas can with. Fits nicely in the fronk. 2 fit actually. Your MPG's will also increase at least 10%.

out of storage

09 April 2011...first drive of the year since I put it away 16 Nov 2010

With a little bit of work..
I cleared the remaining snow that turned to ice off
of my driveway to get the boxster out of the garage.
Grabbed the battery that I've been trickle charging, installed it.
Put the headlights back in (cleaned them and updated the fog
lights to HID during the winter)
grabbed the stereo faceplate, sunglasses, new cup holder,
cell phone charger, manual, tire gauge, glass cleaner & detailing rags
Put it in the car. Oh yah insurance and registration. (my checklist)

Turn the key...started first crank...why wouldn't it?

Go for a drive around the block...make sure everything is alright
Fluid levels / tire pressure. Top up with fresh Premium fuel
Then off for a drive...avoiding potholes, sand, small rocks,
puddles, plugged manhole covers & stupid drivers
that want to drive beside and splash your clean car....
cause everyone else's vehicles are brown from road spray.

5 months is a long time to wait...
but the pain we endure up here in Canada

One more Boxster out of storage
One more happy Porsche owner enjoying the car
that was meant to be driven
Cheers
Chris

I took mine out as well on the 9th. Mounted the summer rims, checked fluids, etc... then went for a nice 100km rip around town.

Had a really good time and the weather was nice and crisp.
