Remember your first ride in a sports car?

First ride in a sports car was in a 1966 Yenko Stinger Corvair. My neighbor bought one new and when we were kids we would ride to the swimming pool in it. I was 6 years old. First sports car owned was a 1966 MGB in 1980. Since then I have had E-Types, TR's, MG's, 911's, Fiats, an XK120, Mercedes sl's, Healeys (both 3000 and Sprites), Morgan, AC, RX7 and am on my second Boxster. By far, the most fun I have had with a sports car has been with the Boxsters. Every time I drive it I smile.

my first car was a Merkur XR4Ti, sorta sports car? My older brothers always had muscle cars when I was young, my favorite was my one brothers turquoise 65 Mustang 289 4v fastback,I rode in that car quite a bit. My other brother had a 67 Camaro at the same time

As a kid in my Dad's '65 911, he actually let me drive it!

My first true ride was when I test drove my current Boxster. The closest sports car before that was a 76Camaro that my dad bought me. I loved that beat up car so much. I was sixteen and worked on it everyday with dad until he became sick a out 4 months then passed away. I have never even really looked at one until this year, it still feels weird knowing how much my dad would love this car.

My first ride in a sports car was to jr high in a mustang 5.0 -1985

So awesome. My first "owned" sports car was an 88 or 89 Saab SPG. That was a fun car when that turbo kicked in.

Dad was a Vette man. He, my brother and I (yes, the three of us) used to cruise the back roads of Michigan's U.P. in his red '72 Vette.

1963, I was four years old. My Dad's 1953 356. Silver, red interior.

I would wait for him to drive into the basement garage after work, then carry his coffee thermos upstairs for him, eager to be helpful!

I'd rarely get to sit in the front seat, because my three older brothers unwilling to share! I got to know those back seats very well over the years. (More often, I rode on the platform above the engine in our VW bus in those days ... no doubt you'd be in big trouble if you let a kid ride there now. )

Porsche wasn't a rich man's car then, and we far from rich. Partly to get back in shape, and partly to save money, Dad rode a bicycle seven hilly miles each way to work for years before buying that then-beat up Porsche. He restored it and drove it to work.

After that car came a 1960 356B, which got wrecked, then, in 1972, a 1966 912, which he has restored three times, and still drives to car shows, now at the age of 84.

When I got my well-worn 1998 Silver/Boxster Red 986, because of these memories, I experienced a deep joy even beyond what I expected.

2003S A tale of woe, my uncle had a Vette just like that, a 69 with factory hard and soft tops. He gave it to his son for a wedding present, son puts car in wife's name to cut down on insurance. They divorce, wifey takes car, sells car in 1987 for $6,000.00 without telling anyone, I would have bought it the mileage was 50,000.

Well the first sports car I drove just happened to be a 98 Boxster 2.5L when I was 16. Have driven 40+ sports/muslce cars after that including the 350z, 300zx TT, NSX, classic and new Mustang's and Camaro's, Chevelle SS, Classic and new Corvette's(C3, C4, C5,C6), Evo, STI, SL55 AMG, M3, M5, 911(964 Carrera, 996 Carrera, 996 4S), RX-8, Miata, Viper SRT-10, TT, GTI, 645i, etc.

And I still ended up going for the Boxster since it was most fun to drive in my opinion.

That stinks - I remember sitting in the driveway behind the wheel of that car for hours on end when I was 5. Until one day I pulled the e-brake handle, and rolled it back into the street.

Took all of my weight to stand on the brake, while my brother happily ran inside to tell dad!

I just got ungrounded last week.

Been hooked on sports cars ever since

...best sports car ride would have to be a Caterham 7 (275 hp) test drive from the dealership around Biggin Hill and back. It took enraged citizens 5 min to catch up ....had enough time to unharness myself and run away...that thing took my breath away

We had one when I was a kid, my Dad use to race. One of our other cars was a convertible; I was to young to remember my first time in a sports car. We used to hide under the tonneau cover. Sports Cars were normal. But I do remember when the Country Squire wagon was in the shop, and my mom had to take ten (10) of us, on both sides, under and up across the back of our MGA to a cub scouts meeting.

In 1966 my older brother bought his first car - a 1961 Austin-Healey 'Bug-eyed' Sprite in baby blue. Gutless and primitive, yes, but a revelation after driving in my parent's typical full-size Chevs and Fords. Top down (actually, disassembled), side curtains off and wind in the hair while seemingly blasting through the twisties. Been hooked ever since!

First sports car ride for me was my pop's 1968 Triumph TR250. It would have been around that same time. He kept it for several years and it was his daily commuter. He eventually traded it in on an early 70s Firebird, no slouch itself. Both were fun from a little kid as passenger perspective.

Not a sports car by real standards but when my grandfather bought an early 80's 200sx I thought he was the coolest dude around.

my friends brother had a '59 Vette and we went for a ride on a new highway that wasn't opened yet. At some point i couldn't see where the speedo read but all I knew was this thing was starting to lift off the ground and i couldn't wait to get out. Scared the hell out of me. Next time was in 1966 Spring Break driving to Daytona beach from NJ in my friends 1960 Triumph TR3- it was a long ride but when we got there we had a lot of fun driving on the beach. And next...........
