Replacing rear emblem

Just replaced the Boxster S on the trunk. Dental floss worked great in getting the old emblems off but man the residue was a pain. I tried goo gone, lighter fluid, wax remover and nothing touched it. I finally went to the Auto Parts store and got some 3M general purpose adhesive remover. I let it soak in for 3 minutes and the residue came right off. A half hour job turns into 2 hours.
The paint was faded where the old emblem was, so it was easy to see where to install the new one. So the moral to anyone doing this is get the right stuff for the job.

I also heard Goo Gone contains fine abrasives that may scratch your paint, so be careful.

A newer Boxster S that was not broken or faded like the one I replaced. It was really bothering me. My car is black and the badges are silver. The goo gone felt like it actually had a lubricant in it and maybe some vegetable oil in it as well. But the 3M general purpose remover was awesome. It has a oil type smell to it. I did not notice any issues with the paint so far.

Yeah I have always loved German cars, the drive and feel can't be dupilcated.

just use some 3M hand polish. I took my Boxster logo off with the 3M adhesive remover - works great. But the old logo left a shadow - so a little 3M hand polish really finishes the job. That is if you don't want a trace of the old logo.
