My boxster with brand new Kumhos is absolutely scary on wet Houston roads that are usually covered in oil... water on oil-laden streets is bad for any car here, but I just park the car when it has the smallest chance of rain for this reason alone.
Another tire choice with a softer compound like a Pirelli might help you, but then you'll be replacing them at least once a year... well at least the rear ones.
I've never experienced a car that burns up tires so quickly when I do not spin them a lick! I still love it though. Most fun I've had with my clothes on.
