OEM Glass and Body Panel Insurance

I can add this coverage to my policy for $135 per year. Would you do it on a 7 year old S with 45k miles? If I get into an accident it could show up on a Carfax report. For possible resale, I would think a negative Carfax report would out weight the positive of having OEM glass and body panels at that point. So I'm thinking that the only benefit is the personal satisfaction of keeping it OEM. Unless the fit and finish of aftermarket is noticeably different. What's your take on it?

I wouldn't worry about the glass. I would worry about the body panels. Does anybody make non-OEM body panels for Boxsters? Maybe it's just a scam to get you to pay more for the same thing. I'd see if you could find out the answer to that question before you commit.

A Boxster isn't a collector car

Too many made.

It is a drive it and enjoy it till it isn't reliable or it gets hit (you'd be amazed at the prices for body repair done right on a Porsche...what would have been $5k on a Honda totaled my first Boxster when they stopped counting at $26k).

I wouldn't pay extra.

With the age of your Boxster you're getting to the point where there's a better chance of it being totalled in an accident than being repaired. Your $135 / yr would be out the window in that case.

Makes sense when you put it that way. Then it doesn't make sense why someone would spend as much money on an engine as the car is worth.
