Convertible top changes

A 99 boxster has the top bows showing (while sitting in the car) when the top is up. Has this been changed later with the addiion of a headliner or when they put the glass window in? I am looking for a 2000 or 2001 S but would like it to have the spartan top. I really like the clean look of the top in the 99.

The inside "headliner" was originally only on the S cars, but became standard across the board in 2001............

Have you driven a car with the headliner? I think it makes a noticeable difference in isolating noise and keeping the interior temps warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Unless you really like the spartan look of without it, you might like having the headliner in place.
